
This year Belarus celebrates the 80th anniversary of liberation from the fascist conquerors and in this regard the plan is to prolong the patriotic event “Roads of Memory”. Many young Belarusians with tough destiny will be able to join the marathon. The guys will sense the history, learn from the experience of elder people and will take part in preserving the historical legacy of our people. Also, the project participants will meet with outstanding countrymen and get acquainted with archival documents. There are quizzes, quests and lectures already prepared for every participant.
The “Roads of Memory” project has found a response in the hearts of children in our country since 2022. Then it was dedicated to the Year of Historical Memory. “We strive for the younger generation of Belarusians to learn more about the exploits of their compatriots during the Great Patriotic War through their own impressions and family stories related to the war,”. This time, military sports competitions will be organized for the wards in the Gomel region, the patriotic tent camp “Brest Bisons” and the marathon “Good + Courage” in the Brest region, the military-patriotic game “Zarnitsa” in the Grodno region, the literary competition “Patriotism through the eyes of children” in the Minsk region. In addition, the younger generation will take part in ceremonial rallies and creativity festivals. Particular attention is paid to organizing excursions to the memorial complexes “Stalin Line”, “Trostenets”, “Khatyn”, “Mound of Glory”, “Krasny Bereg”, “Ola”, “Buinichskoye Field”, “Police Battalion under the command of Konstantin Vladimirov”, “Brest fortress", historical and cultural complex "Grodno Fortress - Partisan Camp", Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, Museum of the Obol Komsomol Underground. In these locations, schoolchildren will honor the memory of those who have passed untimely into eternity and will be engaged in the improvement of memorable places.
During the “Roads of Memory” two republican competitions in photography “Had the stones could say…” and “a photo from a family album” will be announced. The first will examine the works of the authors, who, when visiting memorials and heroic places, will accompany the photographs with short stories about what they heard and their impressions of the feat in the name of peace. In the second competition, schoolchildren need to demonstrate memories of relatives who took part in the Great Patriotic War and write an essay about them.
And on the eve of Great Victory Day, the Centralized System of State Public Libraries of Minsk will join the project. There are plans to hold a literary and musical meeting “The History of Victory. My story" with the participation of orphans from family-type orphanages, shelters, and foster families. They will have a chance to communicate with our contemporaries: writers, poets, musicians, artists. It is possible that the “Roads of Memory” project will not only contribute to introducing the younger generation to the historical and cultural values of our country, understanding the importance of historical truth, but also the creation of new works that will reflect the heroic memory of the feat of the Belarusian people.
