Today every school hosts common memory lesson, dedicated to the National Unity Day. The lesson’s format is quite diverse – there are lectures, open dialogues and researches all planned for students from grade 1 to 11.

“Educational work is constantly developing.  We speak about a very significant day, this is a major historic milestone and that is why we pay a lot of attention to events scheduled to take place on the eve of the holyday”, said Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Kadlubai.

This week’s motto for education system is National Unity Day. Schools will teach unity lessons, dedicated to the thematic event. Throughout the week, it is possible to meet with historians and civil servants who speak about importance and relevance of this historical data.

In the spotlight is right understanding of the holyday’s importance not only from the point of view of history but modern times as well. The main idea is that had it not been for this key date of 17 September 1939, there would have been no sovereign Belarus today.

During the lesson students will speak on the topic, “What is the essence of national unity?” they learn to understand how we can put our actions towards prevention of public conflicts, social and political hostilities and loss of state sovereignty. We must learn to hear and listen to each other, must respect different opinions and aim towards agreement.

Other questions include: “Why Belarusian people have the right to be proud of the history of its sovereign state? Second one is How Belarusian National Anthem lyrics reflect the importance of people’s unity in the modern world.

Unity, solidarity and mutual understanding of Belarusians united by history, traditions and culture, common spirit of respect and equality. These qualities have always been important for Belarusians and shall remain the same.

That’s why the guys search for the answers to “How do you understand the phrase “People strong with each other”? They enumerate the pages of history when Belarusians showed their unity and name localities with newly installed memory signs dedicated to the National Unity Day.

Among the significant events are the dialogue platform “Time of Unity and Creation”, a meeting of the Republican Children’s and Adolescent Parliament at the National Center for Artistic Creativity of Children and Youth, the city children’s and youth action “We are TOGETHER”, a dialogue platform for participants of the road train “Belarus. Youth. Creation”, the grand opening of the republican orienteering competitions dedicated to the National Unity Day.

Our participants will join solemn meetings, festive concertos to take place on September 17. Military patriotic club graduates will be busy in “We are faithful to our motherland event”.

This holyday is a never-to-miss opportunity for people to think about the importance of memory and history as well as the power of people’s unity.
