March 29 marked the end of the final stage of the Republican Olympiad in 18 academic subjects. More than fifteen hundred motivated students from different parts of our country showed a high level of knowledge over the course of five days.

Competitive tests took place in:

Grodno - history;

Brest – Belarusian language and literature;

Dzerzhinsk – Russian language and literature;

Zhodino – social science;

Polotsk – English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese;

Pinsk – chemistry, biology;

Gomel – mathematics, physics, astronomy;

Minsk – computer science;

Vitebsk – geography, physical culture and health;

Zhlobin – labor training.

The largest number of entrants this year in mathematics is 167 people. 15 guys showed decent knowledge of the Chinese language.

677 students became the strongest in intellectual competitions - they were awarded Diplomas of winners of I, II, III degrees. The participants were also given commendable reviews.

What are the advantages and incentives for participants in the subject Olympiad? A diploma at the final stage of the Republican Olympiad gives preferences for admission to certain higher educational institutions. The winners have the right to an exam-free admission to a university in the relevant field.

The Ministry of Education made concessions to those children who received diplomas at the third (regional) stage. The award for successful performance allows you to choose a regional university and become a student.

The tasks of the final stage of the republican competition correspond to global trends in the Olympiad subject movement. This is inextricably linked with the subsequent participation of the Belarusian national team in international competitions in academic subjects for which there is a practice of such Olympiads.

Starting in 2025, Belarus plans to introduce year-round distance learning Olympiads for schoolchildren. According to the Minister of Education of Belarus Andrei Ivanets, the identification of gifted and talented children must be carried out all year round throughout the country, regardless of their place of residence. During the holidays, it is planned to organize training camps for children from all over the country in academic subjects. The innovation will improve the efficiency of the Republican Olympiad and will help to obtain better results.

Significant work in this direction will be devoted not only to schools and regional educational development institutes, but also to universities. Each direction and academic subject will be assigned to universities, faculties and teachers who will work with the children long before their trip to international Olympiads.

The Subject Olympic movement in Belarus is one of the most striking components of the national system of general secondary education. Its main goals are to increase students’ interest in the academic subjects they are studying, develop their creative abilities, deepen theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and promote personal self-realization. Successful performance of students at the Republican Olympiad requires intellectual maturity, communication skills, development of oral and written speech, the ability to navigate in an unfamiliar environment, quickly evaluate new information, and the ability to concentrate on completing the task at hand. These qualities make up the competitiveness of students.

Participants in the final stage of the Republican Olympiad also went on city tours, visited museums and other cultural institutions.

Congratulations to the winners, participants and their teachers on their worthy performances at the final stage of the Republican Olympiad!

We wish you to gain more knowledge, perseverance and victories!
