
The Ministry of Education jointly with the Central Election Commission do their best to increase legal awareness among students and spread knowledge of electoral law, and nurturing patriotic and civil qualities is under their strict control.
Specialists believe, children must understand what an electoral system is and form trust to it from an early childhood.
The Republican competition “Elections in the eyes of kids”, organized by the Ministry of Education, Central Election Commission and the National Center for Artistic Creativity of Kids and Youth has the same goals plus it aims to engage kids into socio-political life of Belarus and create all the necessary conditions for kid’s development.
Everyone aged 6 to 18 could enter. Among the entrants were students from institutions of additional education for children and youth (centers, palaces), general secondary education, secondary specialized education, vocational education, as well as individual participants.
To compete one had to prepare a work performed by any tools with no certain art style.
The competition saw 2070 entries and the judges did their best to determine winners and prize winners in four age groups: 6-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years, 16-18 years.
Among the criteria for evaluation by jury members are disclosure of the topic of the work; originality of idea, independence of artistic embodiment; compositional and artistic level of work and color scheme; technique, quality and craftsmanship of work, as well as a combination of traditional creativity and modern culture.
The winners of the competition in each age category were awarded diplomas and valuable gifts.
The works will be transferred to the regional and Minsk city executive committees for organizing regional exhibitions of creative works.
