MSLU carries out a university project “Obsudim vmeste” and as part of it the university hosted a meeting of the deputy prime-minister Igor Petrishenko with representatives of structural divisions and students from every faculty of the linguistic university. To add, Igor Petrishenko has already been a part of the dialogue platform last year in March.

This time in the spotlight is 2023 achievements and goals for 2024. Igor Petrishenko emphasized that this current year is not only the Year of Quality, as it was declared by the President, but this year is the one when we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from fascist conquerors. In 2025 the country will celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war.

Mr. Petrishenko noted the important patriotic part of students’ lifetime, especially when students visit veterans of the Great Patriotic War and help them if needed.

No need to say that a joint project of teachers and students was not forgotten. This wonderful project titled “We write our tale about war on different languages” definitely deserves its five minutes of fame during a dialogue platform and its key message is: “We must remember those who has not survived till our days, and those who granted us the right to live in War-free world”.

One of the topics dealt with support for young specialists on their first working places via incentive payments, tax deductions, a place in a dormitory or rent houses.

During the platform vice-premier also had the desire to know about the living conditions in the dormitories, catering services in the cafes etc. Students never miss their opportunity to ask and Igor Petrishenko assured that questions voiced are yet to be considered in details.

The participants also discussed how students can be useful in events involving foreign guests and tourists.

MSLU rector Natalia Lapteva believes this experience be useful for students to understand the role of a university in the life of the state and compare university’s development with that of the state and be able to understand major growth points.

Natalia Evgenievna said she is “So pleased to hear that everything students and teachers talk about will be finding its place in the decisions taken at the state level as well”.

Foreign students could not miss the dialogue platform and that is why participants talked about the popularity of the Belarussian Education.

“Our education is immensely popular. Cooperation with China is in priority while CIS countries in all its spectrum are present in the educational programs of universities. In MSLU we go beyond our limits and offer new programs for foreign students”. Said Natalia Lapteva.

In this regard MSLU offers a project that contains learning Russian as foreign language on the basis of the newly established laboratory of the same name. Already there was an international exam on Russian as foreign language. Foreign students can choose from a renewed range of programs for master’s and bachelor’s degrees with Russian as the language of instruction.

In the near future are the double-diploma programs with China. Students will study one half of their academic years in MSLU and the remaining years in China. As a result, they will get two diplomas, undoubtedly.

“We consider this project useful in teaching specialists fluent in Chinese and English and ready to teach Chinese on the basis of English and teach translation from Chinese to English without native language acting as an intermediary. Which is more, we are expecting students from Tajikistan in the frames of a cooperation agreement.” Said the rector.

“We have about 500 foreign students and the number increases. MSLU has no limits on the number of foreign students. We invite students, offer them programs and realize programs in accordance with the demand. Required proficiency level in Russian or English is the key requirement. We can proudly say we cooperate with 33 countries in various fields. We have got 2 or 3 students from some countries but they came far from home to study” added Natalia Evgenievna.
