In March it was time to sum up the results of the final stage of the National Olympiad in school subjects. More than 1,5 thousand talented schoolchildren from all regions of the country took part. It is a true fest where young talents demonstrate their academic success and outside of the box thinking.
Science and victory cities
Eight cities acted as hosts for certain subjects. For example, Minsk welcomed young chemists, biologists and philologists, Grodno – polyglots studying foreign languages, and Mogilev gathered future mathematicians and physicists. Mathematics caused the greatest excitement – 166 participants, while Chinese turned out to be the most exclusive category with 25 contestants.
Success podium
689 participants were awarded diplomas of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees, and 83 received commendations. Minsk became the leader among the regions with 125 diplomas, followed by Gomel and Vitebsk regions. The team of the BSU Lyceum is the best, having won 55 awards. This confirms the high level of training in specialized institutions of learning.
From national to international
The winners of the Olympiad get a chance to represent Belarus at international competitions. The impressive result is already visible: over the past four years, Belarusian schoolchildren have won 262 medals at world Olympiads, including 45 gold. Our country did the best in 2024, when 56 out of 63 participants returned with awards. These are not only personal achievements, but also strengthening the image of Belarus as a country where education is a priority.
Support for talents
The state creates all the conditions for the development of gifted youth. The "School of the Olympiad Movement" is operating. Its students prepare for competitions under the guidance of the best teachers. The winners receive benefits when entering universities, as well as financial support from a special fund of the President. In addition, specialized shifts are organized for them in "Zubrenok" and research schools, where theory is combined with practice and creativity.
Olympiad as a start
The National Olympiad is not just a competition, but a springboard for future scientists, inventors and leaders. It cultivates not only intelligence, but also patriotism, motivating young people to contribute to the development of our country. As statistics show, Belarus is confidently moving forward, and its talents are the best proof of this.
