Published: 24.05.2024

The ringing of a school bell announces important times to a school students and staff, such as class periods and breaks. Once a year it takes form of a national holiday as festive events mark the end of a school year. Today the bell rang in Brest, a city which honorably bears the title “Youth capital” for this year. The holiday was organized for those school graduates who has been doing the best in science, social life, sports and creativities over the course of 11 years. Thusly, more than 2,600 graduates partook in the event: each oblast and Minsk have their 100 best students and a whopping 2000 from Brest. This day the graduates will definitely remember forever.

Minister of Education celebrated together with the graduates, partaking in significant events from laying wreaths at the Brest Hero Fortress to the festive march across Brest’s central streets and concerto program and disco party.

Andrei Ivanets congratulated every participant during his speech at the time of the solemn line-up. “We gathered here almost 3 thousand graduates who did their best in studies, sports, creativities and various quiz competitions. Looking at the young people gathered, we understand that our future will be the brightest.

Our young people are clever, smart and they are patriots as well. I am sure they will do everything for the well-being of Belarus as the state did everything to create all the necessary conditions for that purpose. Now our clever boys and girls have one last step to make. They have to pass through two centralized exams and receive their certificate – so called “pass to adult life”. Then, universities will welcome our bright and gifted guys to enter exam-free on a wide-range of majors. We are very anticipating them. Those who want to do their best at the level of general secondary education are highly anticipated to enter colleges as well. Wish you all the best! Believe in yourself. Only forward for a prosperous Belarus”.

Our young graduates were reminded today that the first ever last bell rang in 1948. Kids were restoring the country back then. Now, all the roads are open and it is possible to make the Motherland even more brighter.

This time there is a record. All graduates and first grade students of the city of Brest rang the last bell. The ceremony took place in every middle school and each pair rang their own school bell.

The winners of international and republican Olympiads, contests, sports competitions and tournaments were awarded with valuable gifts and prizes. After the ceremonial part for the participants of the republican holiday at the Brest regional team sports club “Victoria” named after A.P. Meshkov organized a youth disco and concert program, in which popular representatives of the modern Belarusian stage took part.

Tomorrow the last bells will be held for graduates of 9th and 11th grades across the country. City and regional celebrations are planned in each oblast. For example, in Gomel for the second year in a row the citywide “Last Bell” holiday will be held. More than a thousand of the best graduates were invited to attend. It will begin with the laying of flowers at the Eternal Flame and will continue at the Lokomotiv stadium with a ceremonial part and an entertainment program.
