Education for the future of the country
Published: 08.04.2024

The Ministry of Education of Belarus carries out targeted work to prepare young people for an informed choice of occupation. Particular attention is paid to the individual abilities and interests of future graduates. What is important is that the needs of personnel customers and requests for a different range of occupations and skill levels are taken into account.

In science and industry, experts are unanimous in their opinion - the modern generation is more conscious in choosing a career. Graduates do not miss the opportunity to receive comprehensive information about in-demand majors in institutions of learning, social guarantees and employment in our country. To help those who study diligently and responsibly, along with career guidance classes, there are single open house days, exhibitions and fairs, Olympiads, seminars and master classes.

Live communication as well as through e-assistants with those who are applying is also important. Thus, a specialized website is at the disposal of 2024 applicants - www.abiturient.by. This year Belarusian universities are also expecting applicants from Russia and will admit them on a budget and paid forms of education based on their results of the Unified State Exam. To obtain complete information, a section for citizens of the Russian Federation has been edited on the official website of the Ministry of Education and on the specialized website. Since equal conditions for admission have been created for Belarusians and Russians, registration for centralized testing starts tomorrow for applicants from both countries.

All information for those wishing to study in Belarus is concentrated on one site, and it is constantly updated so that applicants and their parents can get the best idea about the upcoming tests. In a few clicks you can immediately familiarize yourself with the majors and passing scores. The “calculator” option will help the applicant assess his potential, namely, decide on his major and institution of learning.

During real life meetings of applicants within the walls of colleges and universities, teachers and future employers form motivation and a responsible approach to business. For school graduates, this is not only an opportunity to see where they will study, but also to directly establish contacts with employers. And today’s students do not miss this opportunity, even on the sixth day of school.

Institutions of learning not only invite applicants to visit them, but also come to see their future students in schools and gymnasiums throughout the country. University students take part in the presentation of specialties to high school pupils.

The head of the main department of vocational education of the Ministry of Education is convinced that this model of communication with applicants is the most effective. Sergey Pishchov explains: “This platform is truly an equal talking to an equal – a student talks to a graduate, which in the future interests our guys. The main task, of course, is to increase the level of motivation and awareness of choosing a future career. For that purpose, our Ministry and institutions of learning are taking all necessary measures.”

In order to develop a conscious approach to choosing a profession among schoolchildren in the process of learning and upbringing, representatives of the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education of Belarus are ready to share and inspire their experience in schools and gymnasiums.

Such meetings have already taken place in the Vitebsk region. On April 4, young scientists met with students of secondary school No. 8 of Polotsk and the Lyceum of Novopolotsk; April 5 – in gymnasium No. 7 of Vitebsk and in secondary school No. 4 of Vitebsk; April 6 – at secondary school No. 3 of Novopolotsk. All schools in the district gathered at the Braslav gymnasium for an educational discussion.

Young scientists spoke about the majors that on offer at universities, the features and benefits for admission, as well as the opportunities that exist within the framework of studying at the university. The meetings aroused great interest not only from students, but also from their parents.

According to the chairman of the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education of Belarus, Anastasia Kiselevich, a constructive conversation with students of general secondary education institutions is extremely important. Thus, future graduates have the opportunity not only to learn about the features of admission and study at universities in Belarus, but also to ask questions to young teachers and scientists that relate to both the educational process and the specifics of individual professions, further employment and development along a scientific way.

“Among the most frequently asked questions by pupils were the features of training under the conditions of targeted training, benefits for graduates of the National Children's Technopark, the possibility of securing a first job (even with paid training) and a list of majors that are in demand by the economy of our country. Many asked about what opportunities there are for realizing themselves as a scientist. And this is understandable - education, science and production cannot exist separately. While studying at a university, you can and should do science. Everything is available for that purpose. The meetings showed that graduates take a responsible approach to choosing their future profession,” added Anastasia Kiselevich.

Next week such dialogue platforms will be held in Mogilev. Both young scientists and representatives of the Belarusian State University, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Belarusian National Technical University, Belarusian State Medical University, Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University will host a meeting with schoolchildren.
