The Ministry of Education has amended the Admission Rules for General Secondary Education in Lyceums. The main goal of the changes is to ensure high-quality selection and enable the strongest applicants to realize their potential.

The 2026 Admissions Campaign in Figures:

This year, 20 lyceums across the country admitted over 2,600 students out of over 6,300 applicants who passed the entrance examinations. The average national competition was 2.3 applicants per place.

Traditionally, the F.E. Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of Belarusian State University maintains the highest competition – 6.8 applicants per place (the average in recent years has reached 7-12 applicants per place).

The highest demand among the majors was for "Mathematics + Social Science" (9.6 applicants per place), followed by "Computer Science + Mathematics" (5.4 applicants per place).

A third of applicants (32.2%) chose the "physics + mathematics" major, one in five (20%) chose "chemistry + biology," and 13.7% chose "math + foreign language." The widest selection of majors is offered by the F.E. Dzerzhinsky BSU Lyceum (12 majors) and the Minsk State Regional Lyceum (9 majors).

Main innovation:

Previously, due to uniform admissions deadlines, applicants with high scores who failed to qualify for admission to the F.E. Dzerzhinsky BSU Lyceum lost the opportunity to enroll at other lyceums. This has now been corrected:

Applicants not admitted to the 10th grade of the F.E. Dzerzhinsky BSU Lyceum will be able to apply to other lyceums in the same year.

Requirement: The subjects studied at the advanced level at the chosen lyceum must be the same as the subjects in which the applicant took the entrance examinations to the F.E. Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of Belarusian State University (a transcript of grades must be provided).

New application deadlines:

* June 12-15 – general application period for admission to 10th grade;

* July 5-8 – additional period for applicants who did not pass the competition at the F.E. Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of Belarusian State University.

(Admission orders: for the F.E. Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of Belarusian State University are issued no later than July 7, for other lyceums – no later than July 10).

Another important change:

To study the subject "History of Belarus in the Context of World History" at the advanced level, you must now pass the entrance examination in the subject "History of Belarus." This is consistent with the fact that this subject is one of four mandatory examinations upon completion of the second stage of general secondary education.

Ministry of Education Resolution No. 119 of June 25, 2026, comes into force on September 1, 2026.
