On 7 August Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 299, awarding state honors to 94 distinguished individuals across various fields of achievement. The People’s Teacher of Belarus title was awarded to a mathematics teacher at Gymnasium No. 1 of Lida Alfred Ladyko. This state honor is for highest achievements in education, for many years of fruitful work and significant input in upbringing of growing generation.
Alfred Ladyko is the second teacher in the history of sovereign Belarus to be so highly honored. First was physics teacher at Mogilev state oblast Lyceum No. 1 Valeri Barashkov back in 2016.
Alfred Antonovich dedicated many of his years to teaching and raised hundreds of pupils. His graduates were winners of national and international Olympiads, they are famous scientists, teachers, engineers and leaders in their respective fields. He is known as strict but sensitive teacher capable to unveil hidden talent of everyone and inspire to hunt for knowledge, to work and achieve high goals.
People’s Teacher of Belarus is not a one-person win, it is acknowledgement of importance of being a teacher and supporting an occupation that represents the nation’s present and future.

Lyudmila Rychkova — Professor, Department of Translation and Intercultural Communication at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno
Svetlana Khilko — Teacher of Russian Language and Literature at the Secondary School No. 2 of Drogichin
Honorary titles were also awarded to those who raise the prestige of education and science:
“Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus” — Sergei Maksimenko, Director, Institute of Nuclear Problems, Belarusian State University
“Honored Education Worker of the Republic of Belarus” — Svetlana Kopteva, First Vice-Rector, Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University
