Education for the future of the country
Published: 12.06.2026

The Ministry of Education, jointly with industry ministries, continues to implement the Concept for the Development of Engineering Education. It was approved by the government just over a year ago and is intended to cover the period up to 2035.

Today, at the Gorizont holding company, Education Minister Andrey Ivanets and Industry Minister Andrey Kuznetsov held a working meeting with the rectors of leading universities and heads of the country's largest enterprises.

The main event of the day was the creation of a Joint Educational and Scientific Center at Gorizont. The agreement was signed by BSUIR Rector Vadim Bogush and the holding company's CEO, Yuri Predko. The center will be serving as a modern platform for training engineers and programmers in the fields of robotics, automation, and AI. Students and faculty will have direct access to the company's equipment and modern software.

Specific figures and implemented solutions:

The joint work is already giving result:

* BNTU and MTZ signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a laboratory for "Modern Tractor Designs."

* BNTU and MMZ have approved a plan to establish a digital internal combustion engine design laboratory using reverse engineering and 3D scanning technologies.

* BNTU and BELGEE are exploring the creation of training laboratories. The university has already handed over three specific industrial assignments from scientists to the company: a technology for chemically cleaning liquid waste from nickel, implementing AI in a control system, and developing automotive software.

* A specialized 40-hour course, "Fundamentals of Robot Control," has already been launched at the Gorizont Industrial Center for university and college employees.

Following today's meeting, the following key focus areas will be addressed:

* Large Machinery Center: A center will be established at BNTU jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade with the participation of BelAZ, MAZ, and MZKT. An interdepartmental meeting on this issue will be held in July.

* Engine Engineering: BNTU and Minsk Motor Plant will establish a joint specialized laboratory.

* Grants for scientists: A grant system is being launched for faculty members conducting active R&D in the interests of the industry.

* Student design bureaus: The creation of a design bureau at the intersection of educational institutions and enterprises is planned.

* Additive technologies: We are integrating 3D prototyping programs into the curriculum and creating production facilities to significantly reduce the development time for new components.

This new format of cooperation strengthens the country's educational ecosystem. Together, we are working proactively for the technological sovereignty and human resource potential of our native Belarus!
