The delegation of the Ministry of Education led by the First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Bakhanovich is on an official visit to the People's Republic of China.

Among the main events of the visit program is participation in the fifth meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation.

This event was preceded by a meeting between the First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bakhanovich and the rector of the Beijing International Studies University Ji Jinbiao.

During the talks, the parties discussed support mechanisms for the Center for the Study of Belarus, functioning on the basis of the university, and promising areas of cooperation between the Minsk State Linguistic University and the Second Beijing University of Foreign Languages.

During the meeting, the parties reached agreements on working out the possibility of signing a “cooperation map” between MSLU and BISU on the work of the Laboratory for Comparative Pedagogy in the 2023/2024 academic year, organizing on a reciprocal basis internships for specialists in the field of Chinese and Belarusian languages, opening a joint Russian Distance Learning Laboratory with MSLU at BISU, the creation of joint educational programs of the master's program in the format "1 + 1" in the specialty "Translation" (indicating languages).

The Belarusian delegation also visited the Center for the Study of Belarus. To update the funds, the university received sets of scientific, educational, journalistic and fiction literature by Belarusian authors, materials and objects of cultural and historical subjects.

Today, speaking at the fifth meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation, First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bakhanovich noted that through joint efforts, the educational departments of the two countries managed to significantly increase the dynamics of mutual contacts, strengthen direct inter-university ties, and implement a number of large-scale joint educational and scientific projects.

As guidelines for the further development of cooperation and as promising areas of interaction, taking into account the agreements reached by the heads of the two states this year, the parties have agreed as follows: training and expanding the practice of implementing joint educational programs in innovative specialties by leading institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China; interaction between the institutions of the two countries to create digital platforms that provide the population with access to educational resources, join efforts to develop norms and standards for the digitalization of education; study of the possibility of creating an Association of Higher Education Institutions of the two countries; development of cooperation in the creation of joint educational and scientific structures; initiating regional cooperation in the field of education at various levels; participation of Belarusian educational institutions in the work of educational associations operating on the territory of the People's Republic of China; creation of innovative associations between educational institutions and high-tech enterprises of the two countries for joint research and development work with mandatory commercialization of their results.

In addition, the parties expect lond-lasting cooperation in the area of popularization on a mutual basis of education systems, language and culture in the two countries, continuation of the successful practice of opening Confucius Institutes and centers for the study of Belarus.

Note: to date, more than 560 direct cooperation agreements have been signed between educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China.
