April 11, Belarusians can’t wait to celebrate the Day of State Flag, State Emblem and National Anthem of Belarus. Our country is ready to celebrate it for the 26th time in a row.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus №157 of March 26, 1998, Belarus celebrates the holiday annually on the second Sunday of May. This year the day is on May 12.

Early the state holiday was the Day of Sate Flag and Emblem until April 2023, when our president signed the corresponding Decree that changed the name. Currently the holiday is dedicated to the three state symbols that represent independence, development, identity of our state and unity of Belarusians.
On the holiday’s Eve pupils, educators, students and teachers took part in various solemn events. They had the honor to be part of school line ups, solemn lessons, information hours, meetings with honorable people as well as quizzes, interactive games, competitions, races and challenges. This week every education institution joined the thematic events.

Thousands of young people from all over the country joined the patriotic event “Symbols of our country”. This year the patriotic event has diverse formats. The participants learned about the history of state symbol’s creation, sang the anthem together and shared photo and video with state symbols using the hashtag «СимволыБеларуси_СимволыМира».

Prior to the city children and youth patriotic event “We are proud of our Motherland” near the “Minsk Hero City Obelisk”, 90 schoolchildren casted an oath to become pioneers. Sixty more joined the youth union.

There are many events ahead with solemn rituals - casting the oath of allegiance to the state symbols of Belarus by the younger generation, raising the flag, and singing the anthem. Tomorrow the whole country will turn into one festive area, where our red-green color will prevail, as a reflection of forests and fields, hard work and peace-loving, spiritual purity of Belarusians. For example, in Berezino, young people will gather for a thematic flash mob. And a new information about the state symbols of the country will be presented to the public at the “Yunost” cinema in Volozhin.

In addition, on May 12, the patriotic online competition “Heart of the motherland” will start. The Belarusian Republican Youth Union invites all Belarusians to publish on their personal accounts a small original videos with state symbols against the backdrop of iconic historical, industrial, cultural, and sports facilities, reconstructed or built during the period of independence of our country under the patronage of the President of Belarus, with the hashtag #сэрцароднайзямлi.
