
The President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, arrived on an official visit to Belarus. The visit was a continuation of Belarus’s program to intensify cooperation with the countries of the African continent and it confirms mutual interest and demand for Belarusian products, experience and technologies. Belarus is ready to provide all possible assistance in the industrialization of Equatorial Guinea.
“The humanitarian sphere provides us with many opportunities for cooperation - science, culture, education, tourism. Belarusian healthcare organizations can provide medical care to your citizens at the highest level. We can help you with doctors to train your citizens in the field of healthcare, education, and other humanitarian areas. You know our achievements in the field of healthcare,” the head of state listed promising areas of cooperation.
A number of international documents were signed following negotiations between the Presidents of Belarus and Equatorial Guinea Alexander Lukashenko and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
Among the documents signed are an intergovernmental framework agreement on economic, trade, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation, agreement on visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and service passports, agreements on cooperation in the field of healthcare and education, and a memorandum of understanding between the relevant departments of the two countries on cooperation in the field of agriculture.
In addition, the agreement was concluded by the Ministry of Culture of Belarus and the Ministry of Culture, Crafts and Tourism of Equatorial Guinea.
“Today we have made a good foundation for the future,” the head of the Belarusian state checked the work done. “We have identified promising areas and directions for the development of partnership. We agreed on practical steps to implement the agreements reached, agreed on exchanges of visits, outlined the foundations of the legal framework, created a joint commission on economic cooperation."
A request was also received for the training of engineering personnel, specialists in the field of medicine, and the agro-industrial complex.
“The visit led by the head of state to Zimbabwe was a very good and powerful impulse to give a new meaning to this cooperation. Today, 7% of foreign students are from the African continent. We see that the prospects here are very promising,” - noted the Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets.
