Today, 13 May, Belarusian Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets met with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath.

Education is the leader of cooperation

·        More than 2 659 Sri Lankan students are studying in Belarus.

·        Every fifth doctor in Sri Lanka graduated from a Belarusian University.

·        The Ministry of Education of Belarus and the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka have signed a memorandum on cooperation in education.

New opportunities

·        “Belavia” charter flights to Sri Lankan Mattala airport are available since October 2025

·        An air services agreement was signed between the two countries and is a step towards direct flights and development of business contacts.

The meeting was also attended by Belarusian Transport and Communications Minister, Deputy Industry Minister, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food. The talks covered a range of issues, including food supplies, cooperation an agriculture, road construction machinery, and potash fertilizers.

Belarus is open for dialogue and ready to share its quality education services with partners all over the world!
