
September 18, the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank hosts the grand opening of the professional competition of pedagogical excellence “Teacher of the Year - 2023”.
At the opening, First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bakhanovich emphasized that this republican competition is rightfully one of the brightest and most significant events not only for the education system of our republic, but also for the entire Belarusian society as a whole.
“A modern teacher is the backbone of the state, a high professional in his field, a role model for the younger generation, a bright and interesting personality who can captivate people. Of course, teacher must have a broad outlook and tirelessly strive to learn new things and improve himself. What is especially important, he must always remain a kind, honest and a fair person,” stated Alexander Bakhanovich.
The competition takes place every three years and includes four stages: school, district, regional and republican.
At all stages, the competition consists of certain nominations. Among them are physics, astronomy, mathematics, computer science; foreign language; Russian language and literature, Belarusian language and literature; primary classes; music, fine arts, art (domestic and world artistic culture), labor training, drawing, physical education and health, pre-conscription training; history, social studies, geography; chemistry, biology and preschool teacher. In each nomination the winner of the competition is determined, and in the third and fourth stages - winners and laureates.
The final stage of the republican professional skills competition includes the final and super final. 56 participants from seven regions of Belarus reached the finals, 8 people in each nomination. Among them are both young teachers and quite experienced ones. Of all the final participants, 42 were women and 14 men. The average age is 39 years. The longest teaching experience, which is 31 years, belongs to Inna Khavstovich, a biology teacher at gymnasium No. 1 in Slutsk.
The would be winners will compete in various nominations scheduled in the program, such as: lesson in a new class, master-class, solving pedagogic problems etc.
The participants have already passed through trainings dedicated to acquainting with each other and gave master-classes.
Last time this wonderful event took place in 2020.
The event became an important one in the lives of the teachers because for them it is a new motivation for development, a school of professional growth and a mean of public recognition.
Each competition provides a unique opportunity for teachers to reveal their pedagogic talent. Each teacher of the year becomes the so called guide to determination of further development of the system.
