Young people actively engaged in harvesting fruit orchards

Published:18.09.2024

A large scale harvest campaign held in the frames of “Sad Nadezhdy” National project kicked-off in Nesvizh.

About 500 pupils, students of general-secondary and vocational-technic institutions of Minsk have already gathered 30 tons together with representatives of BRSM and BRPO. The main territory for harvest is a garden owned by Gorodeya sugar plant. All subsequent fruits will be subsequently recycled into sweet products.

Ministry of Education takes eagerly participates as well.

The head of the General Directorate for Education and Youth Policy Victor Dovnar, noted that the project is all-year round one. In spring, when buds grow, students dye trees in white, collect tree branches. In summer they take care of gardens assigned to them and in autumn help to collect harvest raised with their help.

“When a child collects a basket of apples, it means he’s done a good job and greatly helped his state. I’m sure current young generation will teach their kids respect towards labor after being part of such an event”. Notes Victor Dovnar.

First Deputy Head of the Main Education Department of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Sofia Filistovich is also convinced that the mission of the project is not only to harvest, but also to unite generations.

“The symbol of the “Garden of Hope” project is an apple tree. Apple blossom is a symbol of Victory, rebirth, youth. An apple is a symbol of life and well-being. I want each of you to understand that the future of our land is in your hands. I am sure that each of you is a worthy citizen of the Republic of Belarus and, working for the benefit of your small homeland, will do everything to ensure that our country prospers,” emphasized Sofia Filistovich.

The event will last until September 29. The Republican Center for Ecology and Local History is the direct coordinator of the project.
