Constant and close attention is paid to the issue of improving work with youth.

According to statistical reporting in the Republic of Belarus, the number of youth aged 14-30 years as of January 1, 2023 was 1,640,287 people - 17.8% of the total population. In fact, every fifth resident of Belarus can be classified as “youth”.

Every fifth young person lives in rural areas.

Today in youth policy there are two main subjects – students and working youth.

During the August board of the Ministry of Education, the parties discussed approaches in the education system to working with students and with student youth, discussed in May at the board of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

Today there is a need to discuss the situation of working youth in industry, which covers about 27% of those employed in the economy or 673.4 thousand young people aged 18 to 31 years.

The joint board is dedicated to this issue. Meetings were held at the sites of organizations such as MART, the Ministry of Industry, Light Industry, and Belgospischeprom, and approaches to working with youth at a number of enterprises were discussed. As a conclusion, increased attention in industrial organizations should be paid to two issues: work with young professionals and the activities of youth public organizations.

The education system trains specialists in specialties on the basis of requests from organizations that order personnel. In 2022, universities alone agreed with the organizations-customers of personnel about 2 thousand curricula of academic disciplines (in total, more than 10 thousand curricula of academic disciplines were agreed upon) and signed more than 100 agreements on interaction in the training of specialists (in total, more than 1 thousand agreements on interaction).

Understanding the tasks set by the Head of State for the industry, the Ministry of Education has expanded admission to in-demand specialties and updated the system of specialties and qualifications.

All educational standards are approved by resolution of the Ministry of Education in agreement with interested ministries and departments.

Targeted work with specialized government customers has begun. Agreements have already been reached with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Ministry of Industry and the Belneftekhim concern.

It is important to note that every graduate, trained in specialties for the industrial sector at the expense of budget funds gain employment for practice. This year it is about 53 thousand young specialists with vocational, secondary specialized and higher education.

There are a number of government measures in the country that contribute to the retention of young specialists in the enterprise.

The most effective way to retain young specialists is through a well-established social policy of the enterprise. Therefore, it is important to provide an individual approach to such employees, develop a plan for their adaptation and retention for each, and provide additional incentive methods and a number of organizations have those methods.

Another important element of the adaptation system for young workers is the institution of mentoring. This practice exists, functions and shows results.

Today, young people are in demand for active involvement in social activities. The solution to this problem at enterprises is ensured by the activities of sectoral primary work union committees, primary branches of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, councils of working youth in close cooperation with the leadership of the organization.

The coordinator of all public work should be a youth work specialist. This will take a job in working teams to a new level. During 2022-2023 117 enterprises across the country had a coordinator.

Having discussed the agenda of the board, we can conclude: working with young people has been and remains a joint priority.

As the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko noted in his address: “Motivated, educated, active youth are, in fact, a strategic resource for the development of any country. After all, the future of the state, the progress or degradation of society depends on what kind of people we educate, how we prepare them for independent life.”
