Winners of university Olympiads will be able to calculate their admission chances after April 1
The results of the university Olympiads were summed up in 21 regional universities. The final stage took place on February 22-23 and March 1, was attended by 3.6 thousand eleventh-graders from all over the country, including Minsk residents. More than 1.3 thousand people won diplomas (I, II, III degree).
Consultant of the Department of Higher Education of the Main Department of Professional Education of the Ministry of Education Natalia Zhitnikova notes:
— The top 5 universities-leaders in the number of winners of university Olympiads included: VSU named after P.M. Masherov (195), Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (127), Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University (109), Francysk Skoryna State University of Gomel (100), Brest State A.S. Pushkin University (93). Every year, strong guys with high scores in academic subjects participate in the Olympiad.
All winners are recommended for enrollment without entrance examinations in popular specialties. They will be able to become students in the first half of July, having submitted documents simultaneously with target students, and accordingly will be enrolled before the start of the main stage of document submission.
— No later than April 1, quotas for higher education institutions for the enrollment of university Olympiad winners will be published on university websites, Internet resources and in the media. As in 2024, Olympiad winners will be able to take no more than 15% of the places from the admission control figures in each specialty, — explained the consultant of the Higher Education Department.
Natalya Zhitnikova reported that the award ceremony for the winners in most universities will take place on March 22, during a single open day:
— This is a good tradition. Not only graduates of 2025 will come to the open day, but also 9th and 10th graders, who, following the example of their older comrades, will take advantage of this opportunity to enter a higher educational institution next year.
University Olympiads were held under the close supervision of the RIKC, who served as question writer.
— The most in-demand majors among Olympiad participants are medicine (Grodno State Medical University, Vitebsk State Medical University, Gomel State Medical University). Artificial Intelligence and E-systems and resources offered by Brest State Technological University are among top choices as well. No less people want to read “History” and “Contemporary foreign languages” (Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno) and “Water bio-resources and aquatic cultures”, “Plant defense and quarantine” offered by Belarusian State Academy of Agriculture”. Of course, engineering, linguistic and pedagogical areas are in demand as well, — Natalia Zhitnikova summed up.
