Week of childhood ends with new large-scale projects

Published:31.05.2024

Symbolically, on the eve of World Children’s Day, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Education and the republican public association “Belarusian Children’s Fund”. The document consolidated agreements in various areas by the Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets and the Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Children's Fund Lyudmila Kondrashova. This means that there will be even more bright and vital projects to support childhood in our country.

The signing of the agreement presupposes joint activities. Each activity will concern assistance to children and families in difficult life situations as well as orphans and those left without parental care, family-type homes, boarding schools, and centers for correctional and developmental education and rehabilitation.

For many years, the Belarusian Children's Fund has been providing financial and legal assistance to those in urgent need. Top priorities are treatment, health improvement, training, creative development, organization of spiritual, moral and educational projects. Such support is available throughout the country.

Deputy Head of the Department of Social, Educational and Ideological Work of the Main Directorate of Educational Work and Youth Policy of the Ministry of Education Elena Simakova shared: “A draft law is being developed to amend the Law “On the Rights of the Child.” Last November marked the 30th anniversary of the adoption of this law. At the same time, for almost 36 years, protecting the rights and interests of children has been constantly in the focus of attention of the Belarusian Children’s Fund, so this will be our joint work.”

The most large-scale project was “Warm House”. The program for the creation and maintenance of family-type orphanages has been successfully implemented in Belarus for several years now. During this time, hundreds of young Belarusians received education and stepped into independent life after their graduation.

On June 1, people who have dedicated themselves to caring for the younger generation and protecting the legal rights and interests of children will receive awards. Among those who will receive the award are families from Gomel (raising 5 children), Voronovo (raising 6 children), Pruzhany (raising 12 children).

Ministry of Education jointly with the Belarusian Children’s Fund hosts charitable events for orphans and those left without parental care, young Belarusians with special developmental needs as well as foster families.

Every kid will be able to enjoy various activities to be held tomorrow in all corners of Belarus.
