The memory of the Great Patriotic War will pass from generation to generation as the greatest tragedy and evidence of the courage and perseverance of the people.
Now we have got a special feeling of the main value on earth - peace. It is a must to do everything possible to ensure that those tragic events of the war, which claimed tens of millions of lives and destroyed thousands of cities and villages, never happen again.
The III Belarusian-Russian Patriotic Forum with the symbolic name “We Live and Remember.” The forum kicked-off today in BSMU, Minsk and is dedicated to the feat of the two fraternal peoples of Belarus and Russia.

Among the participants are students and teachers of Belarusian and Russian universities. Such a significant event is an excursion into the past and a response to those who today are trying to rewrite history and justify criminals.
In his welcoming speech, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets stated: “Thinking about those years, a very important thought comes to mind: the whole people stood up against fascism - pioneer heroes, partisans, underground fighters, the Red Army. This suggests that it was unity that allowed us to achieve the Great Victory.”
Addressing the students, the head of the department emphasized that each of their families, grandfathers and great-grandfathers were involved in the Victory. The Minister is convinced that such patriotic events should be organized in order to preserve the memory of one’s family, country, and to clearly understand how fragile our world is. “We should continue to have the opportunity to think about the future, education, medicine and build an independent and prosperous country,” stated Andrei Ivanets.
The work takes place in thematic sections: “Genocide of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War”; “80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the beginning of the offensive operation “Bagration”; “The feat of medical workers during the Great Patriotic War”; “The Female Face of Victory”; “Feat in the name of the future”; "The Great Patriotic War in the history of my family."
Participants remember the contribution of doctors to the Great Victory. Orderlies, surgeons and other personnel were on the front lines, risking their lives and rescuing wounded soldiers. Teachers were also active participants in the national struggle against the common enemy. Teachers joined partisan detachments, became involved in the activities of underground organizations, and bravely fought against the invaders. And these heroic stories form a high patriotic consciousness, a sense of loyalty to their country, motivate young people to creative peaceful work and determination in business.
