Teachers and education workers toured the main official site of the country – the Palace of Independence. More than a hundred people from all oblasts and Minsk enjoyed the magnificent halls and interiors of the palace and learned interesting details about the creation and work of this majestic object.
The tour is timed to coincide with Teacher's Day - a professional holiday that unites many people across the country. In terms of the number of employees, the education system is one of the largest industries. It includes about 7 thousand educational institutions of all levels, more than 2 million students and pupils and over 400 thousand employees.
"When you step in and find yourself in the Hall of Ceremonies you realize how beautiful and large it is! The most memorable moment for me, very strong impressions! Pride that our people did it. Pride that it is ours!" - shared his impressions with journalists the mathematics teacher of Secondary School No. 111 in Minsk Mikhail Raevsky. Mikhail graduated from this school not long ago, and then, having received a profession, returned to his native educational institution as a teacher. Now he really wants to return to the Palace of Independence again, but this time with his class. "It is important to me (and I try to instill this in my schoolchildren) that ours is good. The Palace of Independence, in my opinion, is one of the best creations of our specialists. It must be shown so that they can see and understand that we must always strive for the best," Mikhail Raevsky is sure.
The Hall of Ceremonies invariably delights visitors with its scope, monumentality, and shining splendor. This is the largest ceremonial site in the country, where about 1,000 people can be at one time. It is here that the most significant and important state ceremonies take place, such as the inauguration of the President, as well as the most beautiful ceremonies, such as the New Year's Ball or the Republican Ball of University Graduates.
This is the hall where excursions begin and from here, attentive guests of the palace understand how many interesting objects are there. On every square meter you can see some curious detail, an example of art, an archival document, an image, behind which for those who know and are curious are hidden important facts and events of the history of the Belarusian state. For example, in the Hall of Ceremonies there are examples of Slutsk belts, thematic and personal art exhibitions are often organized here, and then the attention of visitors is attracted by the canvases of masters of art. Another famous object of this room is lemon trees, which were once presented to the head of state. Moving along the corridors and halls of the palace, attentive tourists notice many such interesting exhibits. There are also absolute favorites that invariably attract attention. Among them are optical chess, made and presented to the President at the domestic enterprise BelOMO (they are in the Red Hall). And also - a grandiose chandelier, one of the largest in the world, located in the Universal Hall.
However, there is one hall in the palace where guests are primarily interested not in interior items and artistic features, but in details of the events that brought it worldwide fame. We are talking, of course, about the Green Hall, where in February 2015, 17-hour negotiations between the leaders of the Normandy Four - Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France - took place. In this hall, like in no other, the words that Belarus, both then and now, remains committed to peace and has always declared and declares its readiness to remain a platform for peace negotiations that will lead to the end of the conflict and the achievement of security and stability in the region become solid.
