VTE institutions are waiting for students Training of personnel at the level of VTE and GSE with subsequent testing and obtaining real practice is considered by the country's leadership as one of the most important resources for the state, a significant mechanism for economic growth and innovative development of the state.

Belarus managed to preserve and develop the system of vocational and technical education. A wide network of professional institutions has been formed in the country and graduates are guaranteed a first job and demand in the labor market.

From 2021, there is an increase in student enrollment at the levels of vocational and secondary specialized education.

The Ministry of Education and its subordinate organizations have built effective interaction with personnel customers. Enormous attention is paid to the quality of the educational process, curricula and programs are updated, the material and technical base of colleges and competency centers is improved, the content of an existing specialty is adjusted taking into account the requirements of the employer, or officials open new specialties in priority areas of the country’s socio-economic development.

The focus is on advanced preparation. Educational programs are designed to provide in-demand specialists even years later.

Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Vocational Education - Head of the Department of Vocational and Secondary Special Education of the Ministry of Education Alexandra Petrova said that the hiring organizations are ready to hire college graduates who have mastered in-demand professions and whose aim is further professional development.

Now, the admission campaign for vocational education is on. The committees can’t help but welcome graduates of the 9th and 11th grades. This year, 157 institutions are accepting admission to the VTE level, about 27 thousand seats are determined by admission targets. Those seats receive funds from the budget.

Alexandra Petrova shares the guidelines on how to find the relevant information. “If you want to get a blue-collar profession and you are interested in educational institutions located in your region, you need to google the website of the Republican Institute of Vocational Education or the Ministry of Education. In the relevant sections dedicated to admission in 2024, there are collections for applicants, lists of educational institutions, qualifications for which admission is being carried out this year”.

Admission to more than 140 professions this year has been suspended or terminated, while admission to hundreds of professions has been resumed. Every year, the Ministry of Education adjusts it in accordance with the forecast needs of organizations for personnel, the regional characteristics of enterprises as basic ones for domestic educational institutions.

In addition, this year, at the VET level, admission is being carried out for two or more qualifications in integration. This allows future graduates to be more mobile and competitive on the labor market. This also encourages enterprises to take a more rational approach to the distribution of graduates, providing them with their first job and building their future career trajectory.

Let us remind you that in order to enter the VET level, you must provide a document on education - a certificate of general basic education or a diploma, as well as a package of documents, including photographs.

“I will focus on a medical certificate of the appropriate type. This is a document that usually takes a lot of time to obtain, but it is extremely necessary. To obtain a certificate, you need to contact the clinic at your place of residence, doctors will decide on the admission of a potential applicant to certain qualifications of vocational education. Afterwards, the document should be submitted to the admissions committee,” added Alexandra Petrova.

Admission to the level of secondary specialized education in 2024 will be carried out by 162 SSE institutions - colleges, of which seven are privately owned and 36 other educational institutions.
