On April 10, the Ministry of Education hosted a meeting with the heads of higher education institutions. Among the participants were State Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Volfovich, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, head of the criminal police Gennady Kazakevich and chairman of the board of the republican state-public association "Belarusian Society "Knowledge" Vadim Gigin.
In his speech, the Secretary of State of the Security Council brought information about the change in the military-political situation in the region, the transformation of modern challenges and threats, spoke about the changes made to the updated National Security Concept approved by the Head of State and the Security Council. He drew attention to the important role of higher educational institutions in the training and education of true patriots of their country, future professionals with an active lifestyle.
“Your universities train thousands of young people who will determine the future of Belarus. It is they who will have to preserve the achievements of previous generations, conquer new heights, make our country even richer and more beautiful, - Alexander Volfovich emphasized. – If the basic knowledge, which is certainly important, was given in the school, then the final formation of the personality takes place in the university, a kind of faceting of the future professional in his field. How successfully this will be achieved depends largely on you, on all of us. From the dedication of teachers who not only pass on their knowledge to students, cadets, listeners, but also help them to better understand and love their future profession. Make it so that later work in the chosen specialty brings satisfaction and understanding of the importance of one's own work for the benefit of the Fatherland.
According to Alexander Volfovich, the most important requirement for the system of training specialists is its compliance with the current situation. Therefore, all disciplines must be adapted to the realities of today, meet modern challenges. It is necessary to use the achievements of science and new teaching methods, to lay down such knowledge that can give a person an impetus to self-education and support his competencies in the future.
“In the current difficult conditions in the country, initiative, intellectually developed, motivated specialists are of high demand. All the forces and means available to us should be subordinated to the solution of this particular task, - said the Secretary of State of the Security Council. - It is necessary to work with young people throughout the entire period of study. To train not only professionals in their field, but also to form true patriots who are ready at any moment to defend their native land.
