Over the years, the feat of our people, who defended the freedom and independence of the Motherland, seems more and more majestic. It will never be forgotten how incredibly high the price was for the Great Victory, so as the input of courage and dedication that helped to win.
On the eve of important events - Great Victory Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, the Ministry of Education is holding a number of patriotic events aimed at preserving historical memory, fostering respect for our history and for the heroic pages our country and our people had.
April 19, 2024. During a press conference “Memory Lessons: Patriotic Events in Educational Institutions for Victory Day and the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from the Nazi Invaders” held in Belta press center, representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Academy of Education and the Republican Center for Ecology and Local History told the participants of the press conference about the planned events among children and youth.
According to Tatyana Osmolovskaya, consultant of the Main Directorate of Educational Work and Youth Policy of the Ministry of Education, the closest attention is paid to the issues of patriotic education, so the department is ready to celebrate significant dates of this year. All organizational issues have already been worked out within the framework of republican seminars and republican guidance meetings.
As part of the preparatory stage, the Ministry of Education developed a departmental action plan as well as provisions and conditions for their implementation. According to the plan, activities will be implemented in several areas. These include the search and research work of students, the activities of museums of educational institutions, tourism, local history and excursion activities. Patronage for veterans of the Great Patriotic War and a volunteer movement will be organized.
Every school across the country will host a single lesson dedicated to Victory Day and the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Thematic events for students of institutions of higher learning are already in the schedule.
Together with the Ministry of Culture, schoolchildren and students will attend film screenings of a patriotic nature, including such iconic films as: “Alpine Ballad”, “Brest Fortress”, “Come and See”, “Sign of Trouble”, “The Moment of Truth”.
During the press conference, it was also noted that work with students will not be suspended during the summer period. All health camps, preschool institutions, institutions of additional education for children and youth will be involved in the republican cultural and creative event “Message to a Veteran”, the republican patriotic ART initiative “You have brought peace to my homeland”, the republican children’s drawing competition “We are commanded to preserve the world”, the republican exhibition of photographs “ProBelarus”, the republican festival of artistic creativity of students “ART-vacations”.
In July, the Ministry of Education, together with the Brest Regional Executive Committee and the Belarusian Railways, will implement the patriotic project “Victory is not forgotten.” About 200 schoolchildren from all regions of the country will travel on a special train along the Minsk-Brest-Minsk route and will take part in excursion and educational events in Brest and Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
In turn, the director of the Republican Center for Ecology and Local History, Elena Onufrovich, dwelt in detail on the All-Belarusian patriotic project “Memory of Generations in the Name of the Future.” This project is one of the most significant and large-scale events being implemented in educational institutions in the country. The patriotic project is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
The organizers are the Ministry of Education and the Republican Center for Ecology and Local History jointly with the Belarusian Children's Fund.
The project includes the holding of such republican events as: the action “History of Victory in Persons”, the competition “Our Victory. My History”, improvement and landscaping of territories “Flowers of Good”, All-Belarusian dictation “I will talk about the Victory”.
In September, the winners and prize-winners of the All-Belarusian Patriotic Project will be determined and a gala event will be planned to sum up the results of this year and award the best works.
“We are confident that the project’s activities will contribute to the preservation of the historical memory of the heroism and exploits of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War,” Elena Onufrovich is convinced.
