About 50 high school students from Belarus are taking part. It is symbolic that it is being held in the year of the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Union State. This event is a vivid example of cultural exchange and deepening understanding of the historical and spiritual ties between the countries. The opening ceremony of the Olympiad began with the carrying out of national flags and the playing of anthems.

Andrei Ivanets sent greetings to everyone involved. It reads: "Our countries are linked by many threads of human relationships based on historical community, friendship, spiritual kinship. It is symbolic that the Olympiad is being held in the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. That is why it is extremely important to value and develop Belarusian-Russian relations. The roots go deep into the history of our fraternal peoples, and we carefully pass on traditions from generation to generation. I am sure that you will become their faithful successors, and will do everything necessary for the well-being of Belarus and Russia."

The first test was an essay on a chosen topic in the genres of reasoning, essay or review of a work. Next is a written comprehensive work on the Russian language and literature, then two creative competitions in rhetorical skills and expressive reading. The judge panel has leading Belarusian and Russian scientists, teachers, and practicing teachers.

In addition to the competition program, a rich cultural one was prepared for the Olympiad participants, as well as excursions to significant historical places. The results are planned to be announced on November 2.
