The prestige of vocational education: from job search to successful career

It is very prestigious to study at the levels of secondary-special, vocational education. The professions that college students receive are in demand on the labor market. College graduates, who got a profession, 2-3 professions as a rule, they will be able to get a job and continue their professional development within the organization or using the existing opportunities of the education system – receiving education in various forms, mastering the programs of professional training, retraining and advanced training one.

When graduate receives a profession, he gets not only professional skills, but also a wide range of other valuable skills, which he can successfully apply in the processes of adaptation, self-education and professional growth, using this insanely rich amount of knowledge to his advantage.

Practice plays a huge role at the levels of secondary-special and vocational education. The practice is going on the base of enterprises and students can receive remuneration (salary) while practicing. Educational institutions actively interact with organizations that order personnel, it use their base to organize practical training, involve representatives in the development of educational programs, and certification.

Educational programs are constantly updating in accordance with the employer’s demands. In 2023, it is planned to use in the process of enrollment a new classifier of the National Statistical Committee № 011-2022 “Specialties and qualifications, which satisfies the existing types of economic activity.

Now there are updated educational standards, educational and program documentation, which can quickly bring the educational content in line with changing technologies and equipment.

In 2023, students will be able to choose new specialties of secondary-special education, such as “Technical support of information security”, “Development and maintenance of web resources” etc.

Secondary-special and vocational institutions need access to modern equipment in order to successfully realize their educational programs. Thus, competence centers were established for students to gain knowledge on how to work with the new equipment. Currently, on the basis of 52 existing centers of competence, within the framework of network interaction, students of educational institutions that implement educational programs of vocational, secondary specialized, and higher education in related specialties are being trained. During the 2021/2022 academic year, more than 26,000 pupils and students were trained in competence centers and this number is increasing every year.

As part of improving the image of the vocational education system, the status and level of vocational training standards, and popularizing working professions, competitions of professional skills are held on an ongoing basis. In 2023, it is planned to hold the V Republican competition of professional skills in May and the participation of the republican team in the Distributed Eurasian Championship 2023. The winners of the Republican competition will have benefits for admission to institutions of higher and secondary specialized education in the relevant competencies of the specialty competition.
