“Over the years of the existence of the National Admission Center, specialists have accumulated extensive experience in methodological, practical, psychological, legal support in the field of family placement of orphans and children left without parental care. Specialists are always ready to share this experience with all interested parties,” said Tatyana Belevich, Director of the National Center of Admission of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
On February 16, Natalya Gentseleva and Irina Poddubnaya, psychologists of the highest category of the National Center for Adoption, held the first lesson of the "School of a Young Specialist" this year. Educational psychologists of the Brest region took part in the event in order to improve knowledge and experience in preparing citizens to fulfill the parental role. During the lesson, the difficulties and controversial issues that arise in the preparation of candidates for adoptive parents at the stage of diagnostic examination and the collection of primary information were discussed, the elements of the exercises included in the classes of the program for preparing candidates for adoptive parents were worked out in practice.
The main education departments of the regions of the country are interested in ensuring the participation of educational psychologists of social and pedagogical centers in the work of this association on the basis of the National Adoption Center This improves the quality of the realization of the right of every child to life and upbringing in a family and in the regions. In 2022, 8 classes of the "School of a Young Specialist" were held, and 59 specialists from all areas received answers to their topical questions.
“Classes organized since 2019 are receiving a positive response. The need was often caused by young specialists’ ignorance of the specifics of working with the category of citizens who want to become substitute parents, the inability to correlate and deeply analyze the results of a psychological examination using several diagnostic methods, - say Irina Poddubnaya and Natalia Gentseleva, educational psychologists of the center.
This year, seven group classes are planned. The topic was selected taking into account the identified shortcomings in the work. Modern realities also show that specialists in supporting all categories of foster families need methodological support.
“School of a Young Specialist” is one of the many forms of methodological work offered by educational psychologists and senior inspectors of the National Center for Adoption. The plan of events can be found on the website of the institution or you can leave a request for participation by phone, said Tatyana Belevich.
By the way, since January 2013, the specialists of the center have been collecting, bibliography, content analysis of information, methodological and journalistic materials on specific aspects of psychology, pedagogy and law enforcement practice of family placement of orphans. The methodical mailing list is sent monthly to subscribers and then posted on the website of the institution "National Center of Admission of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus".
