Each discovery made by Belarusian scientists becomes part of the national treasure. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on February 9 at the ceremony of presenting diplomas of doctors of science and certificates of professors to scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers.

“Traditionally we celebrate the Day of Belarusian science by presenting diplomas of doctors of science and certificates of professors to scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers. Yes, science is international, it belongs to the whole world, no one questions that. Science is destined to serve the humanity and you – Belarusian scientists, are Belarusian Scientists. All your small ideas and greater plans like a child for you and you give a birth to them on the Belarusian sole. Each discovery becomes part of the national treasure”- says Alexander Lukashenko.

The head of state congratulated scientists with their achievements, pointing out that they did a huge job on their way to success “A great work stands behind every diploma and certificate” – said the First.

“In our country scientists enjoy a huge respect and state support. You know how much effort and funds we have put in order to preserve the continuity of scientific schools and achievements of the previous years, and to create conditions for the development of modern science. I am always highlighting (when I offer technology and training on how to deal with the technology to foreign chiefs and specialists. You have heard about that in Zimbabwe): We are so smart because we stand on shoulders of the giant Soviet science. This shall not be forgotten. Your input is enormous, but it is not base on nothing – like in science, in statehood, in industry, in all areas, including the social sphere. That is why we saved schools and you developed them. We have a distinct result which can be used in our country, as I esteem it, on 50 %”. Said the President.

Of course, there is something to be proud. Everyone saw it. Everyone who joined the exhibit of scientific and technical achievements “Belarus Intellectual”. One day I ordered the head of Science Academy to prepare such exhibition of industry science and university one. They did well but it still yet to be improved.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the event aroused lively and sincere interest, and this is the result of the joint efforts of scientists from the National Academy of Sciences, scientists from various industries and universities. An impressive gallery of promising domestic developments will be shown in every region, the corresponding schedule has already been drawn up. Soon the residents of the Gomel region will see the exposition. The exhibition gained attention outside Belarus.

Alexander Lukashenko wished scientists to reach the ultimate goal of their careers, which means they should not only invent something new but force the whole world speak about their achievements. “Because it is the name which remains in historical chronicles. As I see it, true scientist has nothing more important than to provide succession to his deeds and bring a dozen of successful students, thus glorify his motherland. As far as I believe, true scientist leaves many students or one at least who will definitely outperform him. This achievement is bigger than anything you have reached until today”, - says the President.

Just like the natives of Belarus did, Nobel Prize winner in physics Zhores Alferov, one of the founders of the Belarusian truck industry, Hero of Belarus Mikhail Vysotsky, physicist and organizer of science in the field of optics and spectroscopy, laser physics and infrared technology, Honored Scientist of Belarus Nikolai Borisevich. The head of state cited them as an example for a reason. “They are no longer with us, but they have left a huge trace. Their successors are your colleagues. That is why it is a huge pleasure to see you: doctors of sciences, professors, accompanied by your successful students. This shows that you are not afraid of competition with young and ambitious scientists who, perhaps, dream to surpass their masters and which is more, you are proud of them. It means that Belarusian science will definitely have a future”- convinced Alexander Lukashenko.
