February 23, an Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation in the use of resources of the country’s museums in the patriotic education of children and youth. The official event took place at the Museum of Modern Belarusian Statehood

The solemn event was attended by the leadership of two departments, students of schools and gymnasiums of Minsk, Minsk City Cadet School, Minsk City Pedagogical College, and young teachers.

The main point is organizing and conducting lessons in the museum on the basis of museum exhibitions by institutions of general secondary education.

The agreement provides for joint work on the patriotic education of students through cooperation between museums of the Republic of Belarus and educational institutions, for formation of a positive image of departments in the media, as well as among students and the parent community.

With the participation of museum employees, free of charge training sessions will be organized during the academic year in the form of an excursion as part of the “Lesson in the Museum” project. Excursions for schoolchildren to thematic sections of permanent exhibitions are determined according to the stated topics from the educational institution.

The current year is marked by a significant date - the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. Accordingly, the issues of developing students’ respect for the cultural and historical heritage of their people, the events during the Second World War and the post-war period, including events related to the genocide of the Belarusian people, are of particular relevance.

According to Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Kadlubay, the signing of the Agreement was preceded by painstaking work of ministries and subordinate organizations. Experts examined in detail how educational institutions would work in close cooperation with museums, and how history lessons would be organized.

“We have come to the understanding that teaching staff should conduct lessons directly in museums. However, we also rely on the experience of guides and museum workers so that the potential of the museum is fully used. I am confident that the signing of the Agreement will allow us to bring the teaching of our social and humanitarian disciplines to a new qualitative level,” Alexander Kadlubay shared his opinion.

During the dialogue platform, the guys were able to ask the guests of honor their questions. Thus, students were interested in: what opportunities open up for schoolchildren after the signing of the Agreement? Will the popularization of the work of Belarusian artists continue on the pedestrian streets of Minsk? Are there any plans in the future to create not only a single day for visiting museums, but also other cultural sites, for example, theaters?
