Today Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets met with student activists and teaching staff of the BSUIR.

During the meeting, representatives of the Student Council, primary organizations of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and the labor union, the Council of Young Scientists of BSUIR told the head of the department about how student structures work and expressed their ideas and proposals for the development of the youth environment.

It was noted that the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics has developed an integral system of education of student youth, and the activity of student self-government is developing rapidly.

Coordination council of student associations of BSUIR determines main directions of youth policy in the university and is responsible for organization of a joint activity of the student’s council structural bodies, youth public organizations, unions and students alliances of BSUIR.

In its turn, student council of BSUIR represents student’s interests and rights of government on such levels as class, faculty, dormitory and university.

The main activity of the primary union of BSUIR students is to protect the legitimate rights and interests of students, monitor problematic issues in the field of social guarantees for students, control public catering, organize summer holidays, and assist nonresident students to find house.

Under the "Belarusian Republican Youth Union" of BSUIR, the Headquarters of Labor Affairs functions. During the academic year, the HLA conducts propaganda work on youth employment, organizes job fairs.

To support initiative youth with leadership qualities, the following projects have been organized: "Pedagogical Student Lounge", "School of Headmen of the 1st Year", "School of Student Activism "Leader", within which training sessions are held for leaders of youth organizations and associations of the university, social programs are developed and implemented and a competition of youth initiatives is held.

During a conversation with the guys from the student government, Andrei Ivanets emphasized that these structures are the four supporting groups for youth activities: “We try to organize the process as much as possible so that they can work together and distribute activities among each organization.”

During the meeting of the Minister of Education with the teaching staff, the participants discussed issues of the development of science at BSUIR and the interaction of the Ministry of Education on scientific activities with other ministries and departments.

“As part of the development of universities, we try to pay significant attention to science. But it is worth understanding that the world has changed today in terms of not only tasks and the speed of their solution, but also the goals of science. All universities have developed strategies for the development of science, according to which we have ranked universities. BSUIR entered the first group together with BSU and BNTU. This is a good achievement, but at the same time is a serious commitment in terms of the final result. Today, science is expected not just to develop, but produce what is in demand in our economy or is export-oriented,” Andrei Ivanets emphasized.

To add, since 2007 the Council of Young Scientists of BSUIR has been operating, which organizes, popularizes and promotes the development of scientific, technical and innovative activities, as well as resolves issues related to the functioning and development of the activities of young scientists of BSUIR.

Summing up, the Minister of Education noted that, on behalf of the Head of State, proposals be collected to improve the scientific sphere in the country.
