January 30, 2024. A solemn meeting took place near the memorial of BSPU teachers and students who died during the Grate Patriotic War. The meeting marked the beginning of the 59th international Star quest.

The meeting was visited by Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Kadlubai, who in his turn noted that the Star quest has established itself throughout the course of time and easily confirmed its status of an integral part of the civic-patriotic and spiritually-moral education of students.

“The guys brilliantly demonstrate who a future teacher must be. He is a true patriot who knows and respects the history of his fatherland. Star quest gained its audience and is rightfully a trademark of the university”. – Alexander Kadlubai noted

The quest will span across four days from January 30 to February 2. Eleven groups (more than 250 students and teachers) will visit Borisovsky, Vileisky, Volozhynsky, Krupski, Logoiski, Molodechnenski, Slutski, Smolevichski, Soligorski and Stolbtsovsky districts as well as Zhodino town in Minsk oblast.

While on quest, students and teachers will visit war and work veterans, will host meetings and will lay flowers at the mass graves of soldiers and civillians who died during the war years. The groups will see historical places and leading enterprises of the districts.

In educational institutions, participants will meet with students of pedagogical classes, hold career guidance meetings, round tables, trainings, discussion platforms, organize master classes and sports competitions, and perform patriotic concertos.

Together with BSPU students, the quest will have students from the Baku Slavic University (Azerbaijan), Karaganda University named after academician E.A. Buketov (Kazakhstan), Moscow Pedagogical State University (Russia) etc.

Cadets from the Institute of Border Guard Service of the Republic of Belarus and the University of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus will join the Star Quest participants.

The idea of holding Star Quests dates back to 1966, when students of the Minsk Pedagogical Institute (formerly the BSPU named after Maxim Tank until 1993) took part in the All-Union Youth Campaign to the places of revolutionary, military and labor glory of the Soviet people. All groups had to start in different localities, and all groups had to finish at the same time in one place. The diagram of such a route on the map is shaped like a star, hence the name of the quest.
