Mogilev, Belarusian-Russian University, 1 July. It is important not to lose technological sovereignty and ensure technological leadership and education is a crucial component here. This opinion was shared with journalists by the Minister of Education of Belarus Andrei Ivanets during a joint meeting of the boards of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
“Such meetings are of great importance in modern conditions. Today we see how important it is not to lose technological sovereignty, but to ensure technological leadership in various areas. Of course, education plays a crucial role here. It is the quality of education, the quality of training of engineering and technical specialists that determines how much we will be able to develop the real sector of the economy and the industry of the Union State as a whole,” he emphasized.
Therefore, joint educational programs are in the scope of close attention. "In such areas as robotics, automotive engineering, artificial intelligence, applied physics the partner universities have already been identified," the Minister of Education said. "We plan to start recruiting students from the next academic year. Students will study in these programs both in Minsk and at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
An important area for further work, Andrei Ivanets noted, is the development of a network university of the Union State, the concept of which has now been developed. "Starting this year, we begin to recruit for two new specialties that Belarus did not have before. These are the design of unmanned aerial vehicles and the creation of energy-saturated materials based on the Belarusian State Technological University. And Kazan Federal University has been identified as a partner on the Russian side," the Minister said. "This is a very important area for ensuring the defense capability of our country. These are the unique specialists who are needed to work in the relevant sectors of the Union State."
Among the issues on the agenda today was the implementation of the youth policy roadmap. As Andrei Ivanets noted, this is also of great importance. After all, along with the economic confrontation, there is a struggle for the minds of our youth. "That is why we consider higher education inseparable from the education of a patriot and citizen of our country. And here we have common tasks with the Russian Federation within the framework of the Union State," Andrei Ivanets summed up.
Following the joint meeting within the walls of the BRU, a number of documents were signed: the protocol of the joint meeting of the boards of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, as well as agreements between the leading universities of the two countries: BSU, BNTU, BSUIR and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
