Autumn is one of the best seasons of the year, it starts at the same time as new school year and it brings new sports events. This year’s republican mass sport’s event “Shkoliada” once again gathered students from fifth and sixth grades for the eighth time. Participants came from different regions of the country.

Among organizers are: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports and Tourism, Belarus Athletic Federation and Republican Center of Physical Education and Sports for Pupils and Students.

Key direction is promotion of athletics as sport among students and selection of gifted students in sports for them to practice in specialized education and sports facilities.

Shkoliada’s importance cannot be overvalued. This unique project gives students a wonderful opportunity to gain competitive skills, improve their results, develop skills in any field of athletics because students compete not only in individuals but in all-round events as well.

Competition spans across four stages: General-secondary education, regional, town stage and oblast one.

This year’s event was quite large-scale. First stage alone was opposed by 99 178 students.

And then came the final, which was organized at the Republican Center for Olympic Training in Athletics.

High sports results were demonstrated by the national teams of the oblasts and the city of Minsk - teams of 15 boys and 15 girls, a total of 210 young athletes.

The competitions were held in accordance with international rules for athletics and the conditions for performing athletics exercises. The final program included the following disciplines: 60 m run; running long jump; throwing a tennis ball from a place; 800 m run - boys and 500 m - girls; all-around: 60 m.

In each type of program, 3 boys and 3 girls competed for the highest results from the team.

The young athletes were judged by a panel of the Republican College of Athletics Judges of the BAF.

The awards ceremony for the winners took place today. The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, the Republican Center for Physical Education and Sports of Pupils and Students, the Belarusian Athletics Federation and a Belarusian athlete competing in the long jump and triple jump, bronze medalist of the 2011 World Championships, silver medalist of the European Indoor Championships 2019, six-time Belarusian indoor champion Anastasia Mironchik-Ivanova.

The leader of the competition was the team from the Gomel oblast.

In second place is Grodno oblast.

In third place is Vitebsk oblast.

The winners and prize-winners of the republican competitions were awarded cups, medals, diplomas and valuable prizes from the Republican Center for Physical Education and Sports of Pupils and Students and the Belarusian Athletics Federation.
