In his speech with a report on the topic “Engineering education in the Republic of Belarus,” the head of the Belarusian department indicated that for our country the consistent development of human potential is a strategic task.
Taking this into account, state policy in the field of education gains special support from the country's leadership. The main ways for improving the national education system are considered at the Republican Pedagogical Council with the participation of the President. Among those ways are accessibility, quality improvement, practice-orientation, introduction of innovative technologies and methods, and dissemination of the principle of inclusion.
“The choice towards the creation of a social state made it possible to determine the right strategy for the functioning and development of the national education system,” the Minister emphasized.
According to educational indicators used to calculate the Human Development Index, Belarus ranks 47th among 189 countries in the world and belongs to the category of countries with a very high level of human development. In the Social Progress Index, in terms of “Access to basic knowledge,” our country ranks 16th among 170 countries in the world.
“We can rightfully call the experience of Belarus “unique” in the training of engineering personnel, the most in demand on the national labor market, which is implemented through the integration of general secondary and vocational education, starting with the creation of specialized engineering classes in general secondary education institutions under the comprehensive patronage of technical universities and the result is a guaranteed job in the country’s enterprises,” stated Andrei Ivanets.
Andrei Ivanets emphasized that our education is open and accessible to all age groups. To provide that, there are institutes of additional education for adults (including “universities of the third age”), modern methods and teaching tools have been introduced for additional education programs, including digital educational tools and remote education formats.
The results of these transformations are stability and uniqueness, the absence of any clashes and conflicts on an ethnic basis. These factors play key role in enrollment of foreign students. This academic year there are more than 30 thousand foreign citizens from 110 countries comparing to 10 thousand in 2010.
Also, during the educational forum, its participants will consider Russia’s experience in the field of promoting the Russian language and a meeting of the ministers of education of the BRICS member countries will take place, where the participants will sum up the development of the interstate association in the field of educational projects.
