Delegation of the Ministry of Education is on official visit to Uzbekistan.

Cooperation between the two countries have been developing rapidly in the course of previous years and in Education it soared quite well. There are more than 460 agreements in force between learning and scientific institutions of the two countries. In 2023 the parties signed more than 120 agreements.

Within the framework of direct cooperation agreements between institutions of higher learning, joint faculties function successfully, institutions implement joint educational programs, the result of those programs is two diplomas on graduation day. A joint Belarusian-Uzbek intersectoral institute of applied technical qualifications was opened in the city of Tashkent to carry out retraining and advanced training of personnel in strategically important areas for the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the implementation of scientific and innovative activities.

Today Tashkent receives a large scale event “Second Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan”, with more than 150 representatives of the regions of Belarus and the business community taking part. The forum will give additional impetus to the development of direct interaction between the regions, giving it specific content and significant projects.

The forum program includes several panel sessions.

From the Belarusian side, the event is attended by Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets, Minister of Industry Alexander Rogozhnik, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sergei Bartosh, Minister of Health Alexander Khodzhaev, Minister of Sports and Tourism Sergei Kovalchuk, as well as heads of regions and industrial enterprises, representatives of the healthcare and education fields.

Speaking at the panel session “Development of cultural and humanitarian ties between Belarus and Uzbekistan in the field of education and youth policy,” Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets noted that successful cooperation in the field of education is the key to that exclusively fraternal and friendly relations for the long term are being established between our countries and peoples today.

The Ministry of Education has prepared a Roadmap for cooperation between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Preschool and Primary Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of preschool education for 2024-2025, as well as the Cooperation Program of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of training, retraining and advanced training of teaching staff in preschool education institutions for 2024-2025.

In order to train, retrain and improve the qualifications of workers and specialists from among the citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 5 Agreements were signed on the basis of Belarusian institutions of vocational and secondary special education of the relevant profile.

The head of the Belarusian department emphasized the positive dynamics of the influx of Uzbek citizens to study in Belarus. In 2017 we had only 87 students from Uzbekistan, today there are more than 5,000.

“I am convinced that this sky-high figure is not the limit. We have reached a new level of relationships in the field of higher education, conducting training under joint integrated programs. This will allow us to achieve better results,” the Minister stated.

Currently, five joint faculties with Uzbek universities (BSUIR, BNTU, PSU, BSUPC, GGAU) are successfully functioning in disciplines related to agriculture and livestock breeding, innovative pedagogy and information technology, physical education and sports. Joint educational programs for more than 100 programs are implemented by 12 institutions of higher education (BSU, BNTU, BSPU named after M. Tank, VSTU, Grodno State University named after Y. Kupala, Mogilev State University named after A. Kuleshov, BSUT, BSTU, Polesky State University, Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University, BRU, BarSU).

Another aspect of effective cooperation is the development of university science. In 2023, universities and scientific organizations of the Ministry of Education of Belarus, jointly with organizations of Uzbekistan, completed 9 scientific projects in such areas as IT, nanomaterials, biological, medical, pharmaceutical and chemical technologies.

As part of the Forum of Rectors of Belarus and Uzbekistan, held this year in Minsk, a Roadmap for the development of cooperation between institutions of higher learning of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan was signed. In addition, 28 inter-university contracts and agreements were signed within the framework of the Forum.

The Minister of Education also focused on such an important area of cooperation as youth education. “In education, the processes of learning and upbringing are inextricably linked. The internal strength, stability and security of any state depends on the chosen model of youth education, that’s why this issue is a priority in the modern educational concept,” emphasized Andrei Ivanets.

The International Youth Project of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States “100 Ideas for the CIS”, held by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, is aimed at developing innovative activities and attracting young people to solve problems of socio-economic development, stimulating scientific and technical developments in the CIS countries. Last year, 5 innovative projects from the Republic of Uzbekistan were submitted for participation.

The development of a plan and implementation of joint projects with the youth of Uzbekistan and student teams of Belarus have begun. The participation of Uzbek students with students of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University in a star quest to places of military and labor glory has become a good tradition.

The head of the department outlined an important fact: “In the year of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, we note with gratitude that all the peoples of the Soviet Union, including citizens of Uzbekistan, fought for its freedom. Our duty is to preserve the memory of those events.”

Concluding his speech, Andrei Ivanets assured that the Ministry of Education will continue a constructive dialogue on the entire range of issues relating to bilateral cooperation in the field of education, expanding practical interaction and strengthening direct contacts between educational institutions of the two countries, establishing partnerships and exchanging experience in the field of education, attracting to participate in international scientific and scientific-technical events held in educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.
