December 13, an opening ceremony of the School of Young Scientists took place on the grounds of the Belarusian State University.

The event’s organizers are the Council of young scientists under of the Ministry of education and BSU.

Among participants of the first event are about 150 undergraduates, graduate students and young scientists from all metropolitan universities, including Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical Institute, Vitebsk State Technological University, Baranovichi State University, Mozyr State Pedagogical University named after. I.P. Shamyakin, Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University.

Speaking to young scientists, First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bakhanovich noted that in the Republic of Belarus a huge emphasis is paid to the development of state youth policy in the field of science: as a result an effective system of supporting young scientists has been created, scientific events are held on an ongoing basis (conferences, seminars, forums, exhibitions, competitions), conditions are provided for the realization of the scientific, technological and innovative potential of our country.

“The School of Young Scientists is a unique platform that brings together students, undergraduates, and graduate students from more than 20 institutions of higher education. Undoubtedly, the significance of such an event is very high. First of all, it is aimed at providing young scientists with the opportunity to receive expert support in conducting and promoting their research,” emphasized Alexander Bakhanovich.

It is noted that the interest of young people in science is steadily growing, and this necessitates the use of new forms in the direction of creating conditions for more effective implementation of the scientific potential of modern youth.

The educational program is truly diverse. Over the course of three days, participants will listen to more than ten reports from representatives of BSU, BSUIR, the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research, the Higher Attestation Commission, the National Center for Intellectual Property, and the Republican Institute of Higher Education.

Today, school students will learn about the activities of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, the Higher Attestation Commission, ways to support talented young scientists and the use of innovative equipment based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in interdisciplinary research.

The second day will be dedicated to the effective management of scientific work, information tools for the publication activities of a researcher, the basics of intellectual property, and the problem of incorrect borrowings in education and science. Participants will be informed about the Anti-Plagiarism system as a tool for assessing the originality of scientific works and about the experience of implementing youth initiatives in the field of international cooperation and popularization of science.

The final day will be no less interesting - young scientists will become acquainted with public speaking skills in scientific activities as a successful means of defending scientific work, media literacy, presentation writing, methodology and methods of dissertation research.

On the same day, December 15, the School of Young Scientists will come to an end.
