Spring inevitably changes winter and the time is ripe for the republican charity event “Sad nadezhdy”. During the event, children and teachers cut plants, weed gardens and flowerbeds, plant alleys and clean the grounds of arboretums. It means they deal with everything that helps us breathe easier.

The project began back in 2015 by the initiative of the Council of ministers. One of the projects aims is the expansion of the number of orchards and maximum involvement of kids, teenagers and young people in the process. After 9 years of work in various parts of the country grew hundreds of young trees, including apricots, cherries, apples and pears.

More than two thousand institutions of general secondary education in the country now have gardens with fruits and berries on school grounds. More than 150 institutions of secondary specialized education annually help nearby agricultural organizations with caring for plantings and harvesting crops in vegetable plots.

The younger generation is enthusiastically involved in landscaping and beautifying school areas. On April 19, students and teachers of the Rzhavskaya basic school in the Slavgorod district took part in the charity event. Apple, cherry and even walnut seedlings were planted here. School director Maxim Gatalsky said: “We wish our garden to become hope for a successful future for the children, and hope for teachers and parents that young people will preserve the traditions of the older generation: respect and love for family, school, and native land.”

In the whole country in the autumn, students collected more than 12 thousand tons of apples and 70 tons of vegetables. Hardworking youth share their experience with their peers, and the number of participants in the charity event increases every year. Everyone is taught how to properly handle the tool and understand the technology at workshops and master classes and they share and get acquainted with the best practices of organizing personal plots of educational institutions.

Participation in the charity project “Sad nadezhdy” is nothing more than a declaration of love for one’s small homeland. And this was once again proven by all participants in the republican subbotnik. The Head of State placed emphasis on the main thing. “Each school should have its own garden plot so that there is less foolishness in the head,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. Preserving and increasing green wealth unites Belarusians and lays the foundation of good, true traditions for more than one generation to come.
