On February 23, the country celebrates Defender of the Fatherland and Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus Day.

It is symbolic that on this day school students from 8 to 11 grades became part of a single information hour, held in the frames of “School of Active Citizen” education project.

In the spotlight today – “Pride for Belarus. Power for creation, power for future” (providing power-security for the country).

The event is further subdivided into two information sections: “Belarus: power of now and future” and “Energy saving for everyone”.

In the course of the information hour, students will receive irreplaceable amount of knowledge from the representatives of public administration about the role of power in the Belarusian economy. Its development is determined by the strategy of social and economic development of state and a wide range of state programs.

Among the topics for discussion are: power-efficient country, modern power system, resource saving, power-saving technologies, renewable and non-renewable sources of energy, nuclear power plant, wise usage of power resources, successful management of ecological problems, decrease of pollutants emission into the environment.

Today’s Belarusian power system is a steady technological complex, which provides solid and smooth power supply. In Belarus 100% of population has access to electricity.

The government body involved in the formation and implementation of the energy policy of the country is the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus.

The speakers will inform high school students that current economy bases on effective use of power resources, and that these resources are depleting and not renewing. Moreover, current means of power production cause irreparable damage to nature and humans. So effective use of power is a key to successful solution of problem related to ecology.

Meanwhile, the easiest way to reduce pollution of the environment is to save power, it means use it even more wisely.

The nearest future of our world depends heavily on each of us.
