Education Minister Andrei Ivanets summed up the results of the national educational project “Start the heart”. This project was held on a weekly basis from 14 March to 2 May. Every third tenth grader of the country took part – about 18 thousand students.
Small inhabited areas were involved as well, thus equal access to important knowledge was provided to schoolchildren around the entire Belarus.
The participants practiced basic algorithms of first aid and cemented their knowledge on “Pre-military training” and “Basics of life safety”.
The project helped gain interest to medical occupations and many schoolchildren now have an idea to enter the respective universities and colleges.
Today, Minsk Arena hosted the final with the best 10 graders from all regions (120 people each from the oblast and Minsk). Also within the frames of the event a thematic flash mob and an exhibition dedicated to safety and first aid were held.
“We want motivated and prepared join medicine. It is important that every 10 grader master basic and important knowledge of first aid” – Andrei Ivanets noted.
Education Ministry plans to develop practice-targeted formats of learning and expand such initiatives in a school program.
