The first international student games with teams from six countries ‘Primorye Youth’ are being held in Vladivostok, which has become the youth capital of Russia-2024.
The opening ceremony took place on Russky Island under the motto ‘Lights of Friendship. Start to the Future’ and united more than a thousand athletes.
Welcoming the guests and participants of the large-scale event, the Governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako expressed confidence that the Student Games will become a symbol of friendship, peace and unity among young people.
The mascot of the Games, leopard Ajax, also came to congratulate the athletes. During the theatrical performance he lit up the hall with break dancing in the company of dancers and cheerleaders, gave warm hugs and handshakes to the participants.
This is the fourth international project on the territory of the region, which has become an important flagship event in the life of sport. After the successful Children of Asia, Summer and Winter Games ‘Children of Primorye’, the participants of these competitions passed the baton to the students.
The event is organised by the organising committee of the first international student summer games ‘Primorye Youth’ with the support of the Primorsky Krai Government, the Russian Ministry of Sports, the ‘Movement of the First’ and Vladivostok Administration.
The competitions will be held until 26 July. Athletes will win 383 medals in 12 sports: badminton, basketball, boxing, beach volleyball, athletics, tennis, table tennis, swimming, rowing-indoor, fijital-basketball, mini-football and chess.
National teams from universities of the DPRK, Uzbekistan, China, Belarus and India arrived in Primorye to take part in the games.
Belarusian swimmers became gold medal winners at the Games in Vladivostok yesterday.
Students of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture brought the first medals to the Republic of Belarus - 9 gold medals out of 9 declared disciplines.
According to the results of the second day of the Games in Vladivostok, the Belarusian students became the leaders. Thus, our athletes won 10 more medals in swimming, chess and athletics - six gold, three silver and one bronze.
Gold medals and two silver medals went to students of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.
In the team chess competition, students of the Belarusian State University won silver medals.
In the athletics, students of the Belarusian National Technical University won a bronze medal in the 4x800 relay thanks to their teamwork.
Another addition to the medal standings - today the women's team of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno won a gold medal in basketball 3x3.
In total, the Republic of Belarus has 20 medals. Of them 16 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze.
