In most universities, the acceptance of documents for the budget form of education has ended, and internal entrance examinations have started.

Today, agricultural universities in Belarus will complete the acceptance of documents for the budgetary form of education and stop concluding target contracts for education.

Starting July 28, entrance exams will start at the country's agricultural universities. Enrollment to the budget will be until August 4.

Summing up the preliminary results of the acceptance of documents from applicants for the budget in the country's universities, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets indicated that last year at a meeting of the Head of State a number of serious tasks were set for the education system, including the approaches to the graduation and introductory campaign of the current year. The priority task is not to lose the gifted and attract motivated guys. There was also a task to support the regions, because education is the training of personnel for the needs of the economy.

“Today, the education system should prepare a flexible specialist who, having come to the workplace, must have not only knowledge, but also ready-made skills and competencies in order to work at this enterprise. Strong regions mean a strong country,” Andrey Ivanets is convinced.

According to the information voiced by the Minister of Education, Belarusian universities have coped with the tasks set in full. In this regard, the good work of regional universities was noted. The highest competitions were in Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov - 2.4 people per place, Yanka Kupala Grodno State University - 2.2 people per place, Gomel and Brest universities also approached the figure of 2 people per place.

“This is a good trend, the result of purposeful work that was carried out both within the framework of university competitions held in all regional universities, and job fairs that were held in all regions of the country together with personnel customers and institutions of higher and secondary specialized education. Therefore, at the moment, out of about 20 thousand places that have been allocated for daytime budgetary education, about 6 thousand places are occupied by guys who either came to study for the target form of training - these are motivated guys, or they are gifted - these are winners of various Olympiads, competitions, medalists. This is a very high percentage,” Andrei Ivanets stated.

Among the most popular are traditionally the specialties of medical education institutions, where the average competition was about 2.5 people per place. The highest competition this year was at Vitebsk State Medical University for the specialty "Dentistry" and for "Design" at BSU - 12 people per place.

“We see huge competitions, a huge interest of well-trained graduates in entering universities. In addition, we are seriously moving forward in the training of teaching staff. This year, the number of graduates of pedagogical classes who connect their lives with the choice of a teaching profession has increased by 25%. In the leading pedagogical university of the country - Belarusian State Pedagogical University named  after Maxim Tank, a little less than 300 graduates of pedagogical classes and about 100 medalists came, it means the task that was set for the pedagogical university, so that every second student of the budgetary form of education of this university is either a medalist or a graduate of the pedagogical class, has been completed this year,” the Minister emphasized.

Among the leaders in competitions and passing scores is the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University, where the preliminary passing score was 398. If one wants to study “Jurisprudence” at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, the passing score was about 370.

By the way, applicants who have not passed the competition, but who have high scores, will be able to either enroll on a paid form of education, or come to an additional set of specialties that are in demand by the economy.

The head of the department also dwelled on a serious innovation this year - instead of four certificates of centralized testing, the guys came with two certificates of a centralized exam and one certificate of the CT.

As a result of the innovation, according to the members of the admission committees and the rector's corps, the so-called running around between universities was practically excluded. The guys quite purposefully and calmly chose the direction in which they come.

“In a number of universities, we organized a single joint competition for two faculties, for several specialties, i.e. all the necessary conditions were created for young people to be able to enter the university in a fair, clear, understandable system,” summed up Andrey Ivanets.
