Post No 1 is one of the most honored missions for a Belarusian school student. The guard of Memory is carried by 8-11 grades students who deserve the right to be guardians thanks to their academic success and active civil position.
Active Posts No 1 in Belarus:
Brest – Brest Hero Fortress. The very first post in our country active since 1972. Almost one hundred thousand Brest citizens served as the Guard of Honour at the Eternal Flame throughout 50 years of its existence.
Minsk – Victory Square. Active since 1984. Thousands boys and girls served throughout 40 years. The guard of honor is replaced each 15-20 minutes and during service it is prohibited to move.
Mogilev – Glory Square. A place where traditions of the guard are carefully passed since 1984. Each year about 650 best students of the city serve as guards.
A week at Post No. 1 means several hours of daily drill, impeccable appearance and knowledge of military regulations, meetings with veterans, and learning about the history of your country. Here one understands that there is nothing more fragile and valuable than memory.
Everyone involved in this important work, who is already contributing to the preservation of our country's historical heritage, is truly great!
