Yesterday, during the collegium of the Ministry of Education, the parties discussed topical issues on improving the education system. One of the key areas of the system is patriotic education.
Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Kadlubay dwelled on the areas that will be a priority in the new academic year.
“The responsibility for preserving our traditional values rests on the shoulders of educators. A patriot can be brought up by a patriot,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.
In general, in the country, the system of work on civil-patriotic education in educational institutions is logically integrated into the system of continuous education of young students. Last year, patriotic education acquired a new format, taking into account the events of the Year of Historical Memory and the Year of Peace and Creation. Both traditional and new events dedicated to memorable events and significant dates in the history of Belarus took place.
At present, in institutions of general secondary education, there is a successful project for students to visit state museums as part of a single free day of visiting.
The system of military-patriotic clubs has also been developed, and the possibility of preferential admission of their pupils to vocational education institutions is provided.
Speaking about working with parents, the project "Parents University" has proved itself worthy.
However, Alexander Kadlubay focused on the existing problematic issues. Among them - insufficient ideological potential of the educational environment, formalism in the conduct of thematic events.
The task was set to update the composition of councils for the resettlement of students in hostels and the prevention of offenses in universities by September 1. At the faculties of universities, the selection of candidates for the positions of deputy deans for educational work should be completed, as well as additional staff positions for methodologists for working with youth should be introduced.
The Deputy Minister also focused on educational work in vocational education institutions: “The number of students from single-parent families and large families is increasing, the number of orphans and persons with whom individual preventive work is being carried out is increasing. In this regard, the educational program "Actual directions of personality education in the system of vocational education based on a competency-based approach" was developed. Thanks to it, the transition from informational education of young people to interactive one was realized using research and project activities focused on development and self-development.”
One of the priorities of the system is to ensure quality at all its levels. In 2023, it is planned to publish 22 textbooks for preschool educational institutions, of which 15 and 29 textbooks for general secondary education institutions have already been published (24 of which will be delivered to schools by September 1).
For the new academic year, at the initiative of the General Prosecutor's Office, a textbook “Genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War” was prepared, taking into account the age characteristics of students.
For the first time, the Ministry of Education has developed an instructive-methodical letter for studying materials about the genocide of the Belarusian people in schools.
Approbation of the textbook "History of Belarus in the context of world history" for the 10th grade begins in the new academic year on the basis of 14 schools.
The representative of the department also voiced information that the educational process in educational institutions is carried out by about 160 thousand teachers. According to preliminary information, 5.5 thousand young specialists are to start working this year and the heads of educational institutions got a task to organize the work of methodological services in the field so that teachers receive professional support and assistance.
