Brest City hosted the finale of School Olympiad of the Union State “Russia and Belarus: historical and spiritual integrity”. The event took place starting from October 29 and lasted until November 3.

This finale welcomed contestants from all Belarusian oblasts, Minsk, Brest city, BSU Lyceum and Regions of Russian Federation – comprising 165 contestants (54 Belarussian and 111 Russian) in total.

The scheduled program for the finale had obligatory stages to pass with flying colors (an essay writing, a complex work on Russian language and literature) and creative contests as well (rhetorical skill competition and an expressive reading contest). The judge’s panel had leading educators of institutions of higher learning of Belarus and Russia.

Fifty contestants eventually won the Olympiad with 34 victors are of Belarus and 16 of Russia. First degree diploma went to 10 Belarussian contestants, second degree diploma to 11 Belarussian and 4 Russian and third degree one to 13 Belarussian and 12 Russian contestants.

Meanwhile, an 11 grade student of “Polotskaya state gymnasium №2”, Alexeenko Sophia is the Olympiad’s total victor.

The team standings are as follows: In first place is Vitebsk team, in second place are Minsk city and Gomel oblast teams. In third place are Mogilev, Minsk and Brest oblasts.

The Olympiad takes place annually from 2004 and its organizers are the Standing Committee of the Union State and Ministries of Education of Belarus and Russia. Belarusian and Russian cities interchangeably host the final stage. Next year the welcoming party is Ufa (Russia).
