Representatives of the Ministry of Education hosted the seminar "Applicants - 2023. The experts told all the relevant information about the admission campaign and centralized testing.

The experts noted that in 2022 and 2023, legislative acts were adopted that significantly change approaches to the organization and conduct of final exams based on the results of studies at the II and III levels of general secondary education, the entrance campaign to educational institutions, and the certification of students.

Deputy Head of the Main Department of General Secondary, Preschool and Special Education - Head of the Department of General Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education Irina Karzhova said that this academic year, students in grades 9 and 11 take final exams in a new format.

Thus, students of the 9th grade will have to pass 4 final exams, which will be held from June 1 to June 9 in institutions of general secondary education. Exams to be passed with flying colors are: "Russian language" and "Belarusian language" in the form of a summary, "Mathematics" - test and "History of Belarus" in oral form on tickets approved by the Ministry of Education. The rest of the procedure for conducting final exams for the 9th grade remained the same.

“More serious changes affected the graduation campaign in the 11th grade. This year, 11th graders will have to pass the final certification in a new format in the form of a centralized exam in two academic subjects - "Russian language" or "Belarusian language" at the choice of the student and the second exam in the subject of the student's choice from the list of subjects. The results of the CE will be counted when setting the final grade in this subject, as well as when entering higher education institutions,” the expert emphasized.

Irina Karzhova also dwelled on the reasons for changing the format of the final assessment in the 11th grade. First of all, this is aimed at reducing the workload of graduates. Furthermore, the forms of final and entrance examinations were unified. If earlier it was a test, a presentation in languages and oral exams in the History of Belarus and foreign languages, and when entering universities it was necessary to write tests, today it is a single preparation, a single form of the exam.

The teacher's responsibility for the results of their activities has also been increased with the automatic combination of the final certification and the entrance campaign to universities.

According to the head of the main department of vocational education of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Pishchov, a distinctive feature of admission to higher education institutions for applicants who graduated from schools two or more years ago will be that they will have to pass a centralized test in three subjects. Therefore, from May 10 to June 1, they should register for the CT, because this category of applicants will not take a centralized exam.

Then, having three certificates of centralized testing, a certificate of general secondary education, a medical certificate, and other documents from among those listed in the admission rules, you need to submit documents to the admission committee for the chosen specialty and participate in the competition for the budget or for paid places.

Also, this category of applicants has the opportunity to enter on the basis of targeted training. In this case, you need to submit your certificate from June 1 to June 6, along with an agreement on targeted training and other documents, to the admission committee and also participate in the competition for admission to targeted places.

Sergey Pishchov shared the easiest way to conclude an agreement on targeted training: “We should wait until May 1st. Then, for the specialty for which you plan to enter on the basis of targeted training, on the website of the higher education institution, see which enterprises have applied and ready to sign a contract. Next, you need to contact the selected company directly and sign the contract. If you have additional questions, you can contact the hotline of the admission committee of the selected university and ask.

In turn, the deputy head of the main department of vocational education - the head of the department of vocational and secondary specialized education, Alexandra Petrova, told how a college graduate can enter a university on the conditions of targeted training, if the final certification and graduation at the institution takes place at the end of June.

Thus, last week the Ministry of Education sent letters to educational institutions implementing educational programs of secondary specialized education, which recommended the possibility of transferring students who signed agreements on targeted training before May 15 to an individual training plan. This is provided for by the relevant article of the Education Code. Thus, it will be possible to pass the final certification in accordance with the individual plan in a shorter time.

“The only thing I want to warn those who apply for such admission is that they will have to prepare for the final certification - either in the form of a state exam or in the form of defending a diploma in a short time. Here we and the institutions go forward,” Aleksandra Petrova clarified.

The representative of the department emphasized that the level of vocational and secondary specialized education is also possible on the basis of targeted training: “There have been no significant changes this year. Information about submitted applications for specialists of secondary specialized and vocational education, as well as about customer organizations will be posted on the websites of the founders. Anyone can find out where to go and make contracts. You should also keep in touch with the educational institutions themselves - they will tell you which organization to apply to those who want to study with them and then work in a certain organization.
