May 28, Mogilev is hosting two significant events at once – IV Belarus Media Forum and the awarding ceremony for the winners of the XX National competition “Golden Letter”.

The Media Forum began with laying flowers on Glory Square.

The event is hosted by the Palace of Culture in Mogilev, gathering more than a thousand people – including journalists, bloggers, heads of the Belarusian media, and press secretaries. Head of State Alexander Lukashenko is taking part in the forum.

The key topic is the “Role of a journalist in terms of digital transformation of the society”. The forum will discuss important issues including formation and defense of the Belarusian media.

It is worth noting that the Forum is becoming more popular every year. Among the participants are heads of republican and regional media, experts in the field of communications, employees of the press services of republican government bodies, representatives of the blogosphere and of the ideological echelon of the country.

The demand for quality information has increased in society. New realities pose new challenges for the media sphere. In this regard, the Forum gives participants an excellent opportunity to discuss current trends, get acquainted with new forms and approaches to presenting a media product to be in demand among the audience, and share experiences with each other. Professional journalists and authoritative experts will discuss media reality, media development strategy in the context of an information war, the role of regional journalism and the relevance of social networks.

Representatives of the media sphere work for the sake of the reader and viewer; they want to talk not only about problems, but also take part and solve them.

BELTA’s CEO Irina Akulovich noted that today it is necessary for everyone to work as a team, especially for journalists: “The way we present information depends on how much energy we have, love for the Motherland, love for our profession, for the people with whom we communicate. Because if we don’t tell, others will tell for us. Our task today is to work on the Internet and social networks. Since our opponents are very active, our task is to work even more efficiently.”

In the afternoon, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the XX National Competition “Golden Letter” will take place within the framework of the IV Forum of the Media Community of Belarus. A team of professional judges determined the winners among editorial teams, creative projects and individual journalists. The choice was not easy because of many high-quality materials submitted.

The competition is held annually with the aim of promoting the development of print media, news agencies and online publications in Belarus, updating significant thematic areas of media activity in the implementation of state information policy, increasing the professional and ideological content level of the media, stimulating the creative activity of journalists and other creative workers engaged in in the media production process.

The organizer of the creative competition is the Ministry of Information.

The winners of the nominations are awarded diplomas and memorable gifts that is a symbol of the “Golden Letter” competition done in a form of a statuette. The best of the best shall receive the coveted statuette.
