On September 1 a Decree of the Ministry of Education № 88 of July 19, 2024 shall enter into force. The decree, which approved the program for the elective class “Introduction into sports and pedagogical occupations” will be available for X-XI grade students of institutions, providing education on general-secondary basis.
What the class is all about? First of all, the program will help students to learn the working peculiarities in the field of physical education and sport and it will motivate students to choose the corresponding occupation.
During the learning process it is planned to solve tasks on formation of P.E. culture of a person, comprehensive satisfaction of the educational needs in the P.E. field and familiarization with the requirements to personal and professional qualities of a professional in this field.
The program has four units: “Fundamentals of the history of physical education and sports”; “Fundamentals of pedagogy and psychology of physical education and sports”; “Anatomical and physiological fundamentals of human muscular activity”; “General fundamentals of the theory and methodology of physical education and the theory of sports”.
What is the result? Students will gain an understanding of the origin and development of physical education and sports, learn about significant events in the Olympic movement, the role of a coach in training athletes, the patterns of functioning of the body under the influence of physical education and sports, as well as the basics of teaching motor actions.
In particular, children will learn about the patterns of personality manifestation in the process of physical education and sports, the features of physiological and biochemical processes during muscle activity, the structure and content of physical exercise classes.
Within the framework of the course, schoolchildren will learn, for example, to judge the achievements of athletes of the Republic of Belarus at significant international sports competitions, to carry out a reflexive analysis of their experiences and motives in everyday life, as well as in the process of physical education and sports, to organize independent physical exercise classes, to plan a daily routine, to determine the focus of physical exercises. In general, an important expected result of mastering the content of optional classes is the formation of a solid passion in the sports and pedagogical profession, positive motivation and a conscious positive attitude towards its choice.
