MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

Minsk, 25 August. National School of Rectors – a significant event in the educational life of Belarus kicked-off. The first seminar of a large-scale project initiated by Education Ministry was held in a discussion club format at the sites of Belteleradiocompany and the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts (BSUCA).
Among the attendees were rectors of the country's leading universities, heads of government agencies, representatives of science, business and educational spheres. The goal of the initiative is to strengthen higher education system, increase its efficiency and prepare a new generation of solid, strategically thinking university leaders.

How to involve students in the management of universities, strengthen patriotic education and establish an open, trusting dialogue between the government and the youth.
* Quality of education
Training highly qualified personnel capable of meeting the challenges of the modern economy. Particular attention is paid to the advanced training of specialists for the real sector, including high technology and engineering industries.
* University as an innovation center
Development of scientific and industrial clusters, commercialization of research, support for startups and high-tech industries based on universities.
* Strategic management of universities
Modern approaches to planning, digitalization of processes, personal transformation of rectors as leaders.
Education Minister addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Andrei Ivanets emphasized that universities must be scientific, educational and innovation centers educating citizens committed to the development of the country.
"Higher education should develop as a center of competence that trains patriots whose activities bring real benefits to society and the economy," he noted.
Particular attention is paid to the role of universities in the formation of the state's innovative infrastructure from student business incubators to close cooperation with industry, banks and technology companies.
Following the seminar, a resolution was adopted that will serve as a practical guide for rectors, management and teachers of higher education institutions for the upcoming academic year.
The National School of Rectors is more than an educational project. It is an annual "comparing positions" for the management of higher education, a space for dialogue between the state, science and business, as well as a platform for developing solutions that will shape the future of Belarusian education.
