Today Minsk is hosting the participants of the Republican Forum of Museums of Educational Institutions.

The focus is on presentations of achievements in the field of museum pedagogy, popularization of the activities of museums of educational institutions as an educational space and resource in the patriotic education of children and youth.

Among the forum participants are teachers, heads of museums, students - members of the councils of museums of educational institutions from all regions of Belarus, representatives of government bodies, public associations, the museum and scientific community of educational and cultural institutions of the Republic of Belarus, as well as invited guests from educational institutions of the Russian Federation.

The central events are open to visitors at the site of the National Library of Belarus. In the foyer of the library there are expositions of museums of educational institutions. There are 35 museums of educational institutions from all regions of the country in four profiles: historical (military-historical, ethnographic, general historical, historical monographic), literary, natural history, local history.

As part of the program of the republican forum, a plenary session "Museum - the unity of education and culture" also took place.

At the solemn meeting, Minister of Education Andriy Ivanets emphasized that museums of educational institutions today are not only repositories of knowledge about tangible and intangible cultural heritage, but also the most important factor in the enlightment role of education, an educational center where the historical and cultural heritage left by previous generations is studied, researched and promoted by students.

“Multi-vector areas of work in the museums of educational institutions open up opportunities for educating students in citizenship and patriotism, national self-consciousness, forming a sustainable interest in the historical and cultural heritage and modern achievements of the Republic of Belarus,” the head of the department is convinced.

There are about 1.5 thousand museums of various profiles in educational institutions of the country. Museums operate in five profiles, 209 museums have a historical (military-historical) profile. 119 museums of educational institutions have been given the status of “folk” by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.

As part of the first day of the event, 12 winners of the competition of professional museum skill received prizes.

The second day of the republican forum will begin with the laying of flowers from the participants of the republican forum at the stele "Minsk - Hero City".

On the site of one of the main museums of the country - the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus, a youth dialogue platform "Museums of educational institutions in the educational and socio-cultural environment: preservation of traditions and development prospects", a round table with the broadcast of the pedagogical experience of museum activities, museum projects and innovations will take place.

We also remind you that from May 12 to May 18, the Week of Museums of Educational Institutions takes place. Under the motto "Museum for All", the doors of the museums of educational institutions of the country are open to everyone.
